Dear Immigration Officer:

        In connection with the above-referenced matter, we are submitting this letter in support of our petition to classify Ms. First Last, a Canadian national, for a TN-1 visa, to serve within a Computer Systems Analyst occupation for our company on a temporary basis.

SUMMARY OF NAFTA REQUIREMENTS

Ms. Last meets the five (5) requirements to be eligible for a TN-1 visa under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which are as follows.  First, the beneficiary must be a Canadian or Mexican citizen with proof of citizenship.  Second, the beneficiary must be engaged in one of the professions listed in Schedule 2 of North American Free Trade Agreement. Third, the petitioner and beneficiary must submit proof of the necessary credentials to be considered a professional in one of the Schedule 2 areas.  Fourth, the petitioner and beneficiary must submit documentation of the arrangement for remuneration for the U.S. activity.  Finally, the petitioner and beneficiary must provide a statement that the purpose of the entry is temporary.

Ms. Last MEETS NAFTA REQUIREMENTS

Ms. Last is a Canadian citizen with proof of citizenship.

        Ms. Last’s Canadian passport demonstrates her Canadian citizenship. She will present her original passport at the Port of Entry.

Ms. Last will be engaged in one of the professions listed in Schedule 2 of NAFTA.

        NAFTA Schedule 2 lists “Computer Systems Analyst” as an accepted profession for TN status.  NAFTA Schedule 2 currently requires applicants for a TN-1 visa to have (1) a baccalaureate degree or (2) a licenciatura degree or (3) five years’ experience in consulting or related field.  Ms. Last meets this qualification.  She will present her original diplomas at the Port of Entry.  

        For our company, Ms. Last will be engaged in the following duties: research and analyze current and proposed computer platforms and systems for Web, interactive and social media initiatives; define and document the company’s social media and interactive technology best practices and approach; perform cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses to determine the feasibility of proposed implementation activities; and establish and enforce quality assurance testing, code and documentation standards with development partners and vendors.  

        As such, Ms. Last will be engaged in a permitted profession for purposes of a TN-1 visa.

Ms. Last has the necessary credentials to be considered a Computer Systems Analyst.

Ms. Last received a Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Communications in 2003 and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science in 2008, both from School in State.  During her studies, Ms. Last has completed the following relevant coursework in computer systems, including but not limited to Computer Science I (C++), Computer Science II (Java), Systems Programming, Management Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Theory of Computation, Project Management, Analysis of Algorithms, and Systems Architecture and Engineering.

Ms. Last is experienced in the field. From 2007 to present, Ms Hill was employed with  Employer, where she gathered and documented user requirements to establish product  design and architecture, analyzed user interface designs and computer systems, and served as the company’s representative regarding best practices related to web accessibility.  From 2003 to 2007, Ms. Last was employed with Employer, for which she provided systems analysis and designed as well as developed web-based prototypes for Employer customer-facing products.  Prior to 2003, Ms. Last was engaged in consulting services for individual clients.  Moreover, Ms. Last has served in an advisory capacity on the - Council, -  Working Group and  -, representing the User Experience Department.

Ms. Last has the necessary arrangements for remuneration in the area of Computer Systems Analyst.

        Ms. Last’s initial salary will be $-  per year, within a Computer Systems Analyst position.

Ms. Last’s purpose of entry is temporary.

Upon petition approval, Ms. Last will begin work on a temporary basis for a period of less than one year with our company, Employer.
