This FAQ will be phased out in the next few weeks as the NEW WEBSITE and BRAND NEW, UPDATED, IN DEPTH FAQ is complete! We have also launched a Patreon with special ad free feeds and perks for authors and writers.

What is BookSky?

BookSky is a network of feeds on bluesky, created by me, @clarabelle.xyz! We started with just the main BookSky feed, which morphed into a hashtag (when I started BookSky, hashtags weren’t even a thing on bluesky yet!), which morphed into a whole group of feeds.

In December of 2024, we began the BookSky Expansion Project to add more genre feeds to the network, a BookSky Directory of all the feeds and (coming soon) an updated FAQ site with resources for authors, publishers and reviewers! This has been a pretty huge undertaking so if you want to chip in, I set up a Ko-Fi page for donations. Thank you to all the BookSky community members who have contributed so far - I love reading all your messages and I’m touched that BookSky is a favorite part of bluesky for so many of you.

How do I post to feed?

Any posts on bsky with the emoji 💙📚(in either order, it is not case sensitive) OR the hashtag #booksky should populate into the main feed! You do not need to be added to a special contributor list or petition me for access. Anyone and everyone can post to the feed.

Why isn’t my post showing up on the feed?

If you used the correct emoji, please wait ~15 minutes as it sometimes takes my feed generator a bit to populate new posts! If your post still isn’t showing up, you can try quote posting it with the emoji again as that sometimes helps it get bumped into the feed. If you are posting with an image, you can also try using the emoji in the alt text as well as the caption as a bit of insurance.

If it’s still not working, you can tag me (@booksky.club) in the comments and I will do my best to assist you. Please note that I built this feed using a somewhat ‘plug and play’ feed generator so there’s not a ton of troubleshooting I can do on the backend, but I am happy to take a look if I’m online.

What kind of content is welcome on the feed?

This is a feed for discussion of books and reading! Share what you’re reading, how you’re reading it, what you want to read next, etc. Authors, writers, publishers etc. are welcome to contribute to the feed as long as their promotional posts do not outnumber their other contributions to the feed. Think of BookSky as more of a book club and place to chat with other bsky bibliophiles and less of a promotional listserv or catch all feed for anything literature related.

Okay but what if I want a promotional listserv or catch all feed for anything literature related?

Bsky is blessed with dozens of other feeds related to writing, authors, books, and publishing! Feeds have different inclusion criteria and guidelines for posters - check them out before posting.

How can I say thank you for running such a sweet feed?
