현재 해외 팬들 사이에는 2020년 10월 17일 금일 오후에 빅톤 세준 군이 인스타그램에 올린 영상에 대한 논란이 생겼습니다.

아티스트와 소속사는 어떤 악의 없이 음악을 사용했다는 것을 충분히 알고 있으나 이 음악을 사용하다는 것은 문화적 인권적 문제에 대한 의식이 부재하다는 것을 보여주고 있습니다. 케이팝의 소비자증이 현재 한국과 아시아권을 넘어서 미국권까지 확장된 만큼 소속사 측은 문화적인 이슈에 대해 더욱더 신중히 행동해야 할 것 같다고 생각합니다.

논란이 된 영상이 현재 삭제된 상태로 알고 있으며 빠른 삭제 조치가 매우 감사하게 여깁니다만 문화적-인종적 이슈가 수많은 사람들에게 영향을 미칠 수 있는 이슈인 만큼 영상에 대한 피드백 없이 삭제만 하고 넘어가려고 하는 것이 문화적-인종적 이슈를 무시하는 것으로 보일 수 있습니다. 어떤 대책이나 피드백 없이 이번 이슈를 넘어가면 해외 시장에 빅톤의 그룹 평판에게 악영향을 미칠 수 있습니다.  

다시 이런 문제 생기지 않기 위해 아래와 같이 플레이엠 엔터테인먼트에게 정중히 요청합니다.

1. 세준 군이 올린 인스타그램 영상에 대한 심각성을 인지하는 피드백 요청합니다.
2. 아티스트와 소속사 스태프를 대상으로 교육 등과 같은 방식을 통해 문화적-인권적 이슈에 대한 의식을 높이기를 위해 노력하며, 기획 과정에 논란거리 될만한 스타일링을 하지 않는 것을 요청합니다.

해외 앨리스는 귀사와 아티스트의 노력을 감사하게 생각하는 만큼 플레이엠 엔터테인먼트는 위와 같은 요청을 수렴하여 반영할 수 있도록 할 수 있으면 좋겠습니다.

Hello, we are international Alices.

Recently, there have been controversies being raised towards Sejun’s IG video which was uploaded on October 17th among international fans. The song that was used in the video is a song written about the case of police brutality and racism leading to the death of a Black woman in the US. We understand that the company and the artist may have no malicious intent in using the music; however, using the music shows that there is a lack of awareness regarding racial and cultural issues. As Kpop’s influence is crossing Korea, other Asian countries and reaching more countries like the US, it is of utmost importance that the company should pay more attention to such issues and act more carefully.

We recognize that the video in question has now been deleted and while we appreciate your action towards the issue, we feel like the taken action is not enough. Racial issue is important and it can affect many lives, so simply taking down the video without any statement addressing it may come off as an attempt to ignore the issue. Not addressing the issue may also affect the VICTON name in the international market.

Therefore, in order for issues like this not to happen again, we international Alices politely request the following.

1. We request a statement recognizing the severity and importance of the issue at hand.
2. We request that the company would try its best to educate the artists and staff members regarding racial and cultural issues through different methods so that issues stemming from inappropriate styling or use of music will not happen again.

We appreciate the hard work that the artist and the company have made. We sincerely hope that the company can listen to our request and act accordingly.
