Saturday August 1 | Dr. Jasmin Cowin | Prompt Engineering the Big 6: AI-Generated Science of Reading Materials for Multilingual Learners | The Science of Reading (SoR) offers an interdisciplinary research base for understanding how students learn to read. In this hands-on workshop, teachers and teacher educators examine how AI-prompt engineering can support the design of classroom materials aligned with the Big 6 components of reading: oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Attendees will leave with a Big 6 framework, six adaptable AI prompts, sample classroom materials, and one guiding principle: every bracket in a prompt represents a professional decision that only the teacher can make. | Jasmin Cowin_The Science of Reading_MMVC2026 Presentation and Materials Folder
Saturday August 1 | Rob Howard | LANGUAGE TEACHING IN AN AI WORLD | Artificial intelligence can translate, explain grammar, generate essays, and even hold conversations in almost any language. But one thing it cannot do is learn a language for you. This talk explores why genuine language acquisition still depends on the learner's own engagement, practice, and meaningful communication. While AI can be a powerful assistant, it cannot replace the cognitive effort required to build lasting linguistic competence. The session offers insights for teachers on how to support learning rather than encourage dependence, helping students use these tools without sacrificing the skills they are meant to develop.
Saturday August 2 | Dr. Ewa Kozłowska | Engineering Digital Habits: Where QMS meets AI in Education | How do we prepare students for an AI-driven workforce without letting them lose their most valuable asset—their own minds? For modern educators, the challenge is not just limiting AI, but transforming it into a tool for long-term growth. This presentation introduces the concept of the "Quality Gate" (derived from Quality Management Systems), which helps students define where AI assistance ends and genuine human thinking begins. By applying quality engineering tools to daily study routines, we can guide students to build healthy digital habits. This framework prevents cognitive laziness, fosters continuous self-improvement, and equips future graduates with the high-level critical thinking skills that will make them irreplaceable, high-value professionals.
Saturday August 1 | Dr. Plamen Kushkiev | Human Before Machine: Empowering Adult ELT with GenAI Literacy | This session explores the adult educator’s evolving role in light of the adoption of generative AI in language classrooms. Drawing on the presenter’s autoethnographic research from 2024–2025 and current scholarship, the speaker highlights findings from a reflective teacher learning journal documenting regular interactions with ChatGPT. By analyzing foundational AI literacy frameworks and models, the webinar demonstrates how purposeful, collaborative technology integration empowers educators and language learners alike. Attendees will gain practical, human-centred pedagogical approaches that prioritize human agency, critical thinking, and pedagogical thoughtfulness, moving beyond tool proficiency to cultivate deep, future-ready digital competencies and transferable skills.
Saturday August 1 | Dr. Anna Grabowska | 60 minutes with Mindfulness | “60 minutes with Mindfulness” is a gentle invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the present moment. Designed especially for older adults, it offers a simple yet powerful way to bring more calm, clarity, and joy into daily life. Through guided practices, quiet reflection, and small steps toward self-awareness, we’ll explore how mindfulness can support well-being, resilience, and inner peace—no matter your experience or background. Saturday August 1 | Prof. Dr. Ebba Ossiannilsson | On-Demand Learning as a Catalyst for Inclusive, Scalable, and Sustainable Transformation and Reclaiming Purpose for HE in an AI world | The session will explore the movement of on demand driven learning in he era of AI, for inclusive, scalable and sustainable transformation | https://www.slideshare.net/slideshow/mmvc26_ossiannilsson-presentation-1aug2026-pdf/288954996
Saturday August 1 | Dr Deepika Kohli | IPR and Digital Tools | This session explores the basics of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) relevant to educators and researchers. Participants will learn how to protect their digital content using free and accessible tools. Key topics include copyright, fair use, licensing, and digital watermarking. Practical demonstrations of digital tools will help apply IPR concepts effectively. Ideal for faculty, scholars, and content creators navigating online education.
Saturday August 1 | Dr. Ramesh Sharma | Quantum Supremacy | A lot of research is devoted to Quantum Computing currently. This presentation will discuss how Quantum biology, chemistry and computing will impact our lives.
Saturday August 1 | Amber Smith | Beyond Resources: Building an Educator Intelligence Layer for Better School Decisions | Building on last year's presentation of our proposed Educator Resource Platform, I'd like to share the next piece of that vision: the Educator Intelligence Layer, a proposed decision-support framework designed to transform educator feedback, school context, and support data into actionable insights for school leaders. | https://pitch.com/v/beyond-feedback-psc23t
Saturday August 1 | Nives Torresi | My Virtual Colleague: Reflecting on AI Avatars in Education | Moving beyond administrative AI tools, this session reflects on the future possibilities and essential human limits of lifelike talking avatars in education. We explore how a responsive digital colleague can serve as a reflective sounding board for teachers, while keeping human educators at the heart of learning. | My Virtual Colleague reflection note.pdf
Saturday August 1 | Dr. Nellie Deutsch | Meet “AI Course Assistant” a New Block Plugin for Moodle Designed by Nellie | Join Dr. Nellie Deutsch for an exclusive first look at the AI Course Assistant Prototype for Moodle, a new tool she developed to provide course specific, AI powered support directly within Moodle. This prototype is the foundation for a future Moodle plugin designed to help educators and learners navigate courses, find information, understand activities, and receive instant answers to their questions. During this interactive session, you will learn how the AI Course Assistant works, see a live demonstration, and discover how to ask effective questions to get the most helpful responses. You will also have the opportunity to try the prototype yourself in the MMVC26 and VWMOOC26 Moodle courses. Your participation is an important part of the development process. After testing the AI Course Assistant, you will be invited to complete a short Google Feedback Form to evaluate its usability, accuracy, usefulness, and overall experience. Your feedback and suggestions will help shape future improvements as the prototype evolves into a fully featured Moodle plugin. Whether you are an educator, Moodle administrator, instructional designer, or simply interested in the future of AI in education, this session offers a unique opportunity to explore an innovative tool before its official release and contribute to its development.
