A handful of the stories are chapters in a book titled “Conspiracy Theory”, leading to the idea that all the stories take place in the same “universe”. Most likely written by Mason, as his song shares the same name. Shuutarou states that it’s her favourite book.

Cult of the Abandoned City (COTAC) 「廃都の教団」

The story of Crowley, a war orphan.

Ten-Year War

Nitro and COTAC mention what seems to be the same ten-year war. Nitro takes place sometime near the end of the War (Where Jiro takes down the Government), while COTAC takes place a few years afterwards. Implies that COTAC doesn’t take place in an old-time setting, but a more modern setting.

Conspiracy Theory, Chapter XXII: The Misfortunate Aspiring for Reincarnation (FDRL)

Cast: Naro (MC), Crowley, Mercedes, Astraea, Tadashi, Nemui, Shoko, Michiko, Jiro, Carl, Mason, Chiquito

Arcs seemingly take place in alternate universes that Naro is reincarnated into.

First Arc: Crowley, Mercedes, Astraea (God form) are part of Naro’s RPG party, off to defeat Demon King Tadashi (in which Naro fails to do so and gets killed, leading to another reincarnation)

Second Arc: Astraea (Human form), Tadashi, Nemui, Shoko, Michiko, Jiro, Carl, Mason and Chiquito are all students in Naro’s school. Naro fends off Jiro from attacking Michiko, and she thanks him.

A city has been decimated by the last war.

The people who barely survived were unable to find the will to live.

Then, a miracle suddenly appeared.

The people worshipped him as an incarnation of God.

Some gave him food as offerings.

Others offered themselves as attendants.

Thus was born the cult of delusion.

But he had no power to perform miracles, nor extraordinary talents.

It was just a coincidence.

Someone made a mistake.

That's all.

But with the birth of a being to worship.

It was a source of comfort.

The faithful gave him their love.

In return, they tried to get miracles.

This hurt him badly.

His name was Crowley.

He was a boy who lost his parents in the war.

He was gathered in an old church that used to be an orphanage.

A lonely existence.

He was not particularly averse to being worshipped as a leader by his followers.

In fact, he felt comfortable with it.

He could receive love without doing anything.

Having lost his parents, he was hungry for ''free love''.

But after a few years, he realized.

The deluded people were arguing with each other.

"I want the miracle first." "No, I want it first."

They said this was the order in which miracles were to be bestowed.

His mind wandered back to the past.

"They were giving me their love because they wanted miracles from me."

"Was this ''free love'' just ''tentative love''?"

Then he saw the deluded people as terribly foolish.

He had nothing but disgust for the faithful.

"I was never truly loved."

There is no one here right now who can see me.

They are deluded by their beliefs in an ''incarnation of God''.

They are the end result of idolatry.

Since that day when he realized that, he is still looking for free love.

"Is it a sin to want to be loved?"

Crowley's Story Commentary

A few years ago, the war between the old empire and the new nation came to an end, and the story takes place in a city that was destroyed by the war.

Crowley was a war orphan.

He spent his days sitting in back alleys, waiting for rations.

Rationing was done at an abandoned church that had originally served as an orphanage.

As time went by, Crowley's life became more and more desolate, as he spent his days doing his best to get by on only one meal a day.

Then one day, he meets a tall, long-haired woman named Astraea.

She stops right in front of Crowley as he sits in an alleyway and says something outrageous.

"Yeah, I guess I can."

Astraea was a suspicious person who called herself a "god".

However, her charisma and miraculous abilities seemed to be genuine.

In no time at all, she created an environment that enriched Crowley’s life.

This was to become the Cult of the Abandoned City.

Astraea builds a system that utilizes human desires and uses her own power for Crowley's benefit.

In order to enshrine him as the leader of the new religion, she instructed Crowley to behave in the following manner to others.

Put yourself first
Be arrogant and unafraid of any situation.

Many people saw the divine will in this behavior (or mistakenly thought they did), and the number of believers grew exponentially.

At first, Crowley was pleased with the tribute and the faith of the believers, feeling "love" for them.

But after a while, he witnessed an argument between believers.

"I want the miracle first." "No, I want it first."

The believers only wanted the power of miracles and did not truly love Crowley.

Of course there are people who really love him, but they were few and far between, and he realized that the majority did not.

From then on, Crowley found every day painful.

His flattering followers seemed to be hideously ugly to him.

As these days pile up, he almost loses his identity, his mind, and attempts suicide.

To put it simply, he threw himself into the sea, but thanks to the understanding people around him (mainly Mercedes, the crazy psycho sister, Astraea, the shota-gachi-koi* goddess, and Tetra, the tropical fish), it didn't happen.

It is here that Crowley realizes that there are people who truly care about him.

In this way, the boy's closed mind was cleared and his heart was opened.

The day of Crowley's suicide attempt can be summarized chronologically as follows:

Crowley runs away from the cult, avoiding the eyes of the followers.

Mercedes said, "I can't find the Leader" and the commotion occured.

Noru, Niru and Albert start a search party for him.

↓

Astraea finds the suicide note, becomes impatient and awakens all her powers for the first time in thousands of years (black hair becomes blonde).

Crowley is helped because of this.

Tetra rescues Crowley from sinking in the sea.

A young man living in a village not far from the abandoned city had a dream while a new religion was gaining power.

"Be the one who leads others.”

He doesn't remember anything except that he was told these words, which could be called a revelation, but he relied on these words and tried to help the weak.

At some point, a kind of faith in the young man was born in the village.

Taking advantage of this faith, he followed the trend of new religions and claimed to be the founder of his own religion, claiming that he was the rightful messenger of God.

The people did as he told them and followed his instructions.

In a closed and exclusive environment, he established a system of control that was not a religious group in name only.

However, this did not last long.

The once charismatic and revered young man became more and more arrogant every day.

People gradually grew dissatisfied with him.

However, the young man himself was unaware of this, and kept ordering people to do what he wanted.

"This is a revelation from God." "Miracles will happen, and the Lord will save those who believe.

In reality, the words the young man had heard were a lie.

He had been deceiving people with his own performances of miracles, saying things like ''helping the weak”.

The truth is that a young man who planned to take advantage of poverty and hardship was using rumors of miracles by a cult that he had heard about.

When the villagers revolted and cornered him, he tells them the truth about everything and begs for his life, but he ends up being slaughtered.

There were a few blind followers who followed the young man to the end, but they chose to die a martyr's death based on the fictional scriptures he had created.

The only ones left behind were those who had the will.

In the end, the only thing that remained were the strong-minded, those who could not survive on their own were eliminated, and the village regained its vitality as a result of this incident.

Ironically, the ''weak'' people he spoke of were not saved.

The cult that he heard rumors about is the "Cult of the Abandoned City" led by Crowley, which I explained last time.

However, this cult is influenced by Astraea's extraordinary power, so in the sense that it is beyond human knowledge, it is undeniably a miracle.

This song is a spin-off, so it doesn't have much to do with the main story.

It's just a story about a village that exists in the same world and on the same timeline.

The Scriptures (Fifteen Clauses of Orthodox Teachings) [Orthodoxia]

	Michiko Ame 「アメミチコ / 雨路子」 Song: Ameji Shoujo / Rain Road Girl 生まれついての薄幸少女。何をするにもうまくいかず、何をせずとも不幸に見舞われる性質を持つ。年を経るにつれて徐々に不幸性質が増している。現在、行方不明。 She is a naturally unhappy girl. She has a tendency to be unhappy and to suffer misfortune in everything she does. As she gets older, her unhappiness gradually increases. She is currently missing. “Her family has been torn apart and destroyed, and she has nowhere to go. One day, she was found on the side of the road, out of breath… I wonder if she became a ghost and danced with everyone after that…” She liked to watch all sorts of TV programmes, shows, news and weather reports from a young age. 	“Tadashi Kunai” 「苦無正」 Song: Orthodoxia 片田舎村の名も無き新興宗教を立ち上げた教祖。その素性から出自、すべてに至る個人情報が不明。廃退都市の新興宗教を参考に組織体制を編成していたようだが、その構図は次第に彼自身の利己的な図式へと変化していき、やがて多くの反感を買うこととなる。その最期は、村の人々による集団私刑であった。 A guru who founded a new religion in a rural village. His background, origins, and all other personal information are unknown. He seems to have organized his organization based on the new Cult of the Abandoned City, but the structure gradually changed to his own selfish scheme, which eventually led to a lot of animosity. 	Jinsei Owatarou (Pen Name) 「人生終太郎(ペンネーム)」 Song: Hiseisanteki Jinsei Keikaku / Unproductive Life Plan 女流同人小説作家。定職にはついていない。厭世的観念を持ち、その作風は決して明るいものとは言えない。愛読書は『陰謀論』。 An independent female novelist. She does not have a regular job. She has a pessimistic view of the world, and her style is not a cheerful one. Her favorite book is "Conspiracy Theory". More on Owatarou She's a depressed woman in her mid-20s who's never had a boyfriend. Her style of work matches her gloomy, downer personality, but when it comes to romance, it turns to a more fantastical style. When she was a student, she won a prize for her work and moved to Tokyo with aspiring dreams, but spent her days unsuccessfully submitting her work to publishers. Her appearance is unkempt, [she is THE depressed woman]. Black hair, black knit top and glasses. Her face isn't that bad, she looks in the mirror and thinks she looks good, but her communication skills are so poor that she has isolated herself her whole life. 	Mene Tame 「多目メネ」 Song: Abnormality Dancin' Girl 自分が『(彼女自身の基準における)普通』から脱却できないことをコンプレックスに感じているおり、そのため『異常であること』に対して異常な執着を持つ。その姿は、はたから見れば既に“異常”そのもの。 She has a complex about her inability to break out of her "normal" (by her own standards). For this reason, she has an abnormal obsession with "being abnormal". To the casual observer, her appearance is already "abnormal" itself. * See: Mene’s Diary
	Mercedes 「メルセデス」 Song(s): Kyusai no Inori / Prayer of Salvation, Mercedes no Zange / Mercedes’s Confession 弟を亡くした原因が自身であることを悔い、廃都の教団へ入信した女性。受け入れてくれた教祖クローリィのためならいつでも犠牲になれると豪語している。一日数時間の祈りを日課にしている他、教徒の悩みを聞くなど対人的なやり取りを担当している。 A woman who regrets that she was the cause of her brother's death, and joins a cult in an abandoned city. She says that she is willing to sacrifice herself for the sake of Crowley, who has accepted her.
