Brewers’ Guild of Ardesca
Charter
In Order to promote growth and sharing of knowledge and experience among brewers of Ardesca we hereby form the Brewers’ Guild of Ardesca to serve the populace and lords of the Kingdom. Our goal is to teach prospective new brewers in the art, help seasoned brewers practice and grow in their skill and knowledge, and provide refreshments during events as sanctioned by the Lords of Ardesca
The Guild shall be an attempt at recreation of a medieval style guild, setting up ranks within it with their individual privileges and responsibilities.
The Guild shall be headed by a council of three Masters who will resolve any disputes within the Guild and approve all advancement within its ranks.
The position on the Masters’ council is voluntary.
No Master can hold the position on the council for more than a calendar year unless no other eligible Master is available. If one is elevated to the rank of Master and willing to serve on the Council, the longest tenured Master immediately steps down.
If there aren't sufficient Masters to fill the council, the Council shall select a Journeyman to fill in a council seat.
There will be four ranks within the Guild, with each new member starting off as a Novice, and advancing through the ranks by demonstrating new skills and knowledge.
Novice is a new member of the Guild who is yet to successfully complete their first brew. Their task is to absorb knowledge from the other members and brew their first brew successfully. There is no token for this rank as anyone can become a Novice simply by stating their interest to the Guild Masters.
Apprentice is a Novice who has successfully brewed their first brew. Their task is to acquire the necessary equipment to practice their craft without assistance while continuing their education. They are tutored by a Master. The token for this rank shall be a crest of the guild symbol with grapes and apples, quartered.
Journeyman is an Apprentice who have completed their equipment and have been decided they are able to reliably and consistently create brews of quality. They are encouraged, within their capabilities and with Master’s approval and supervision, to provide beverages for an event tavern while they learn the mundane laws and licenses of their area. Their further education is aimed at researching and recreating historical methods of brewing. The token for this rank shall be a crest of the guild symbol with grapes, apples, and honey, quartered.
Master is a Journeyman who can consistently recreate a brew using historical processes and ingredients. They are expected to take on an apprentice to tutor as well as share their tools with new Novices and Apprentices. They are also sanctioned by the guild to run an event tavern in accordance with mundane laws and approval of the hosting Branch. The token for this rank shall be a crest of the guild symbol with grapes, apples, honey, and hops, quartered.
