Awards

Time Control: 15/10 (15 Minute with 10 Second Increment for Each Player)

Format: 6SS (6 Round Swiss)

Sections: U1400 (Beginner) and Open (Advanced)

The rating will be determined by USCF/FIDE (Official) or Chess.com/Lichess/ICC (Unofficial) which you can report at your discretion.You do not need a rating to participate in the tournament. Players with any rating can play in the Open (Advanced) section.


Entry Fee: $20 Entry Fee / Person (Cash only during event check-in)

Byes: You can choose to have a half-point bye for Round 1 and Round 2 if you would prefer not to arrive in the morning. You must notify us in advance through the registration form.

Prizes: The individual trophies and cash prizes will be presented to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Place in the U1400 ($200-100-50-25) and Open ($300-150-75-50) section—8 Total Guaranteed Trophies/Prizes. If there’s a tie for a certain place, then the tie-breaker will be determined by Modified Median, Median, and Solkoff in that order. The best college will also receive a $200 prize.

Team: The best college will win the LACI Champion / Team Award for the tournament with recognition for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Place. Scoring will be based on the Top 4 Scorers in the Open Section with any tie-breaker determined by Result Between Tied Teams and Winning Percentage in that order.

DGT Setup: Top 3 boards for each section dgt streamed via chess.com, lichess and twitch. Joe Bruin will be streaming all the games via Twitch @collegiatechessleague

Parking: There are plenty of visitor parking options available that will cost up to $14.00 for the full day. The parking lots closest to Ackerman Union would be Lot 4 followed by Lot 7/8/9.

Food: Ackerman Union houses a variety of restaurants including Taco Bell, Jamba Juice, and Carl’s Jr. on the A-Level and Veggie Grill, Panda Express, Wetzel’s Pretzels, Wolfgang Puck, and Rubios in the Terrace Food Court on the 1st Floor.
