Today’s activity is designed to:

  • Get you playing with various chatbots to find answers/solutions
  • Discovering how these tools can be helpful in the classroom
  • Discussing implications of AI in education
  • Working together as a team

There are dozens of available Chatbots now available (and many more coming online every day). Some of these are free but many require some type of membership fee. Some are freely available in China while others are not.

Today, we would like you to experiment with a variety of Chatbots as they all have different strengths and weaknesses.

Activity #1 - Creating a TEAM NAME

Activity #2 - Creating a MASCOT

Create a mascot for your team using an image creator.

For this activity, try using:

  • Someone else opens up Canva. If you can’t open this then you can just get a description of your mascot rather than an actual image (not as good, but OK…) Not sure what works on the Chinese ChatBots - please try.

Activity #3

Generate a list of 10 topics for an  IBDP Chemistry Winter Holiday Activity.

Use these topics to create a month-long unit, incorporating some standards from your subject area.

Someone different than last time should go back to CHAT GPT or any other chatbots.

Activity #4 

Generate report card comments for a “lively” FP student. He seems to have trouble staying on task in the classroom.

Team members can try three different ChatBots.

Enter the requested information by describing in detail the “lively”  FP student in your class who seems to have a difficult time focusing on what he/she needs to get done. This student is quite bright but doesn’t like to do any work. He/she gives up very easily. He/She doesn’t show any interest in your subject.

Click generate and once again, watch the Magic happen!

Now, tweak it again….this time ask AI for some recommendations on how you can manage this student or get him/her to perform better in your class.

Briefly discuss this with your team.  How can I make report writing more contextual and differentiated for each student? Lastly, ask a ChatBot the same question as above and see what it comes up with.
