Harvard Library

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Antiracism (EDIBA)

Internship Program | June 2 August 2, 2024

The Harvard Library EDIBA Internship Program attracts talented undergraduates, recent graduates, and graduate students from historically underrepresented groups to provide meaningful professional working experience in Harvard Library. The EDIBA Internship Program aims to attract future librarians and those serving in non-librarian roles (e.g., HR, Facilities, etc.) to cultivate the next generation of professionals interested in library careers.

Interns will work in an academic library environment complemented by career development experiences. The EDIBA Internship Program allows interns to gain work experience and get an overall feel for the library profession.

On January 19, 2024, Harvard Library will host an open house for potential interns to learn more about each opportunity, talk with the sponsoring department, and ask questions before applying.

Harvard Library will cover the following for interns:

  • Travel costs, up to $1,000 (coordinated by Harvard Library).  This does not include baggage or shipping fees.
  • Double occupancy housing provided in a campus-designated apartment (the apartment includes bedding, linen, limited kitchen utensils, and WiFi). Interns should be prepared to purchase toiletries and groceries as needed.
  • Hourly compensation of $18/hour for 30-35 hours per week, for a total taxable summer compensation package up to $4,320.
  • Biweekly professional development opportunities

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter expressing interest and relevant learning experiences and a PDF resume to Dr. Jerome Offord, Jr., Associate University Librarian for Antiracism, at HL_EDIBA@harvard.edu. The deadline for all applications is February 15, 2024.
