Ryan Matthew Huss
September 18, 1977 – December 22, 2025
Ryan Matthew Huss, age 48, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, laughter, and countless cherished memories. His presence created deep and lasting connections, and his absence leaves an ache in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
Ryan grew up in Freedom, Wisconsin, and graduated from Freedom High School in 1996. He later moved to Green Bay, where he began his career with Verizon. His dedication and strong work ethic led him to relocate to Phoenix in July 2004, where he quickly rose into a leadership role while continuing his education and earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, graduating on the Dean’s List, a testament to his intelligence, determination, and commitment to excellence.
Ryan was known for his vibrant smile that could light up a room, his infectious laugh, quick wit, sharp sarcasm, and truly kind heart. He had a way of putting people at ease and bringing joy wherever he went — well, most of the time. His presence set the stage for unforgettable laughter, celebratory cheers, and an abundance of love.
He loved to travel and found particular peace in Sedona, a place that reflected his deep belief in the power of crystals, angels, and spiritual guidance. Ryan also cherished time at home, enjoying his beautiful backyard, listening to music, and soaking in the simple joys of life. He lived boldly, always “go big or go home,” embracing every moment with purpose and passion.
While living in Wisconsin, Ryan formed a close-knit group of friends who became family. Together, they created incredible memories, hosting elaborate gatherings such as the Accessories Ball and Purse Party. Annual holiday round robins were a treasured tradition, where Ryan’s spicy sarcasm and signature sass always stole the spotlight. Fondly known as one of the “Bay Boys,” he fully embraced his role and was lovingly referred to as our “sista from another mista.”
After relocating to Phoenix, Ryan quickly made it home. In true Ryan fashion, he built another chosen family of friends who loved and cherished him deeply. He was always the life of the party, unforgettable for his solo, show-stopping dance performances, most often set to Britney Spears or Joan Jett. He was known for saying, “I love you, bitches,” and everyone knew he meant it with his whole heart.
When Ryan returned home to Wisconsin, everyone wanted time with him. To make things easier, family and friends from all parts of his life gathered together, creating a beloved tradition known as National Ryan Huss Day, just one of the many ways Ryan brought people together and reminded us how deeply he was loved.
Ryan is survived by his father, Mark Huss; Jeanne Zellner; his mother, Connie (Randerson) Huss; his sister, Nicki (Huss) Vandenberg and her husband, Gordy; his nephews, Jaxon and Camden Vandenberg; and his grandmother, AnnaMae Huss. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and an incredible circle of close friends who were family in every sense of the word; and his special friend, Jace Sampson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Lois Randerson, and his grandfather, Emil Huss.
A Celebration of Life reception, lovingly known as National Ryan Huss Day, will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Buzz’s, W2116 County Rd. S, Freedom, WI 54130. Guests are encouraged to wear or bring their favorite sunglasses in honor of Ryan, a signature part of his style and spirit. In celebration of Ryan’s love of fashion and self-expression, guests are encouraged to dress fashionably and boldly, just as Ryan loved.
In addition, the family will host an intimate Celebration of Life at a later date at Ryan’s home in Phoenix, Arizona, for close friends and family. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
Words of remembrance and a eulogy will be shared at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Chinese lantern lighting ceremony at sunset—a celebratory send-off honoring Ryan’s light.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ryan’s name to support causes that were important to him.
The family thanks Ryan’s friend, Jace, for the love, care, and support he has extended during this difficult time.
