Introduction
Alexandria officials have signed a contract to build a 528-bed ICE immigrant child and family jail on top of a toxic waste site adjacent to Alexandria International Airport. Adding a new jail slated to have more than 500 beds would speed up deportations of families and children. The England Airpark Board, which signed this contract with ICE, is holding a hearing on Thursday, September 24, meaning now is a critical moment to make our voices heard. Please use this social toolkit to spread the word on the consequences of building this new jail and to urge the England Airpark Board to cancel the contract.
