Dear X,
I am emailing to voice my deep concern regarding the escalation of the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict into a full-blown genocide on occupied Palestinian territories. Civilians are paying the price for decades of moral neglect from governments including Canada.
The death toll in Gaza has reached approximately 4000 in one week. This number is likely much higher. Many bodies are still under the rubble, or have been blown apart completely. In 2022, Canada exported $21 million in military goods to the Israeli regime. This has contributed to what the UN is calling “mass ethnic cleansing.” Gaza has devolved from an open-air prison to an open-air grave.
Canada must vehemently oppose the ongoing bombardment and military assaults on refugee camps, hospitals, UNRWA schools, critical infrastructure, and civilian neighborhoods. Half of Gaza’s population consists of children, who are now filling its hospitals. These hospitals are collapsing due to Israel cutting off water and electricity infrastructure, and have become military targets. This is the depth of depravity.
I urge you to stand for people facing genocide in Palestine and elsewhere in calling for an immediate ceasefire and end to the war crimes committed against Palestinian people. The Canadian government’s deafening silence towards the plight of Palestine and its unanimous support for Israel’s illegal occupation and settler colonial agenda undermine Canada’s own commitment to Truth and Reconciliation as well as its international and legal obligations.
In addition to advocating for an immediate ceasefire, Canada must stop all support for the Israeli apartheid project and its military including bilateral and private agreements. There should be no place for apartheid exports on Canadian soil, or military exports towards a genocide. I will not be voting Liberal in the next federal election unless this government takes significant action.
Respectfully,

Dear X,
I am emailing to voice my deep concern regarding the escalation of the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict into a full-blown genocide on occupied Palestinian territories, as well as Premier Ford’s xenophobic and racist comments towards the Palestinian-Canadian community.
Premier Ford publicly framed peaceful protests against apartheid as “reprehensible as disgusting.” This alienated and offended many members of the Palestinian community and their allies. It also violated Ontario’s Human Rights Code, and contradicted protestors’ rights to peacefully assemble, a constitutional right. These protests were not valorizing conflict, but instead understood the long plight of people of all faiths who live on illegally occupied lands. Ontarians who are voicing their opposition to Israel’s apartheid regime are being threatened, including members of provincial parliament, academics, and union organizers standing against oppression and genocide. Premier Ford’s comments are deeply unsettling and have sanctioned abuse and hate towards communities of colour.
The death toll in Gaza has reached approximately 4000 in one week. This number is likely much higher. Many bodies are still under the rubble, or have been blown apart completely. In 2022, Canada exported $21 million in military goods to the Israeli regime. This has contributed to what the UN is calling “mass ethnic cleansing.” Gaza has devolved from an open-air prison to an open-air grave, where hospitals containing dehydrated, hungry, injured children are targeted without impunity.
Current events in Palestine are exacerbating a humanitarian disaster of epic proportions and resulting in trauma for many Ontarians.
I urge you to stand for Ontarians by calling for an immediate end to the genocide in Palestine. Premier Ford must also issue a public apology in recognition that his previous comments increased hate and disrespect towards minority communities in Ontario who are standing up for human rights.

Dear X,
I am emailing to voice my deep concern regarding the escalation of the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict into a full-blown genocide on occupied Palestinian territories.
Mayor Chow denounced a peaceful protest against Israeli apartheid, misconstruing solidarity for ‘terror,’ a fundamentally racist and xenophobic comment that undermines protestors’ constitutional rights. Although she has since tried to ‘contextualize’ these statements, the Mayor has not voiced any opposition to the imminet genocide of one million people on illegally occupied Palestinian land. The Mayor’s actions have deeply alienated many members of the Palestinian community in Toronto and their allies.
The death toll in Gaza has reached approximately 4000 in one week. This number is likely much higher. Many bodies are still under the rubble, or have been blown apart completely. In 2022, Canada exported $21 million in military goods to the Israeli regime. This has contributed to what the UN is calling “mass ethnic cleansing.” Gaza has devolved from an open-air prison to an open-air grave, where hospitals containing dehydrated, hungry, injured children are blatantly targeted.
Current events in Palestine are exacerbating a humanitarian disaster of epic proportions and resulting in trauma for many Torontonians who were supportive of Mayor Chow’s election campaign.
I urge Mayor Chow to stand for Toronto’s diverse communities and for occupied people everywhere by calling for an immediate end to the genocide in Palestine. Mayor Chow must also issue a substantive statement condemning genocide, a fact she chose to ignore with impunity.

To the Staff of the Globe and Mail:
I am writing out of concern that recent work published in the Globe and Mail is abetting a genocide in Palestine. Through the use of the terminology "Israel-Hamas War," The Globe and Mail portrays the current conflict between Israel and Palestine as an equal conflict, as opposed to a genocide against innocent civilians. Terminology such as “Israel invades” disregards Israel’s long-standing illegal occupation of the Gaza Strip, portraying Gaza as an equal power. Israel portrays its aggression as a "war with Hamas" as part of its strategy to commit war crimes with impunity. Israel has a long history of breaking international law ‘under the guise of legality’, according to Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem, as well as the 2021 report by Human Rights Watch. On October 23, the Center for Constitutional Rights described Israel’s actions as “an unfolding crime of genocide against the Palestinian people.” This is emphatically not a war against Hamas, as evidenced by the escalation of violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, who are under the authority of the PA. Portraying it as such places real communities in danger. The victims of Israel's aggression in Gaza have mostly been children, with 2055 children killed and 800 more missing as of today. UN experts have already described the situation in Gaza as ethnic cleansing. It is your duty to provide readership with context and a balanced perspective. I am gravely disappointed in the Globe and Mail and will be canceling my subscription immediately.

UN experts have already described the situation in Gaza as ethnic cleansing. That an editor-in-chief would publicly gloat the use of the word “terrorist” six times in referring to Hamas without also referring to the ongoing terror inflicted by the Israeli state, is quite simply perplexing. The aforementioned article did not offer any historic context whatsoever, Is your policy to simply parrot our government representatives who approve sending arms to an occupier currently committing a genocide? Your conflation of terror with Palestine, Palestinians, and Arabs is plainly racist, xenophobic, and reminiscent of media narratives which caused an immense amount of harm around the world after 9/11. It is your duty as a public broadcaster to provide readership with context and a balanced perspective. I am gravely disappointed in the CBC, an institution funded by my tax dollars. I will be expressing my concerns to my MP.
