Warhammer Underworlds

You must have an event ticket and Convention Badge to participate in each event.

Warhammer Underworlds is a tense showdown between two warbands in the darkest depths of the Mortal Realms, seeking answers, glory, or treasure. This is a game in which finely detailed Citadel miniatures battle it out across three rounds using dice and cunning cardplay. While you’ll find it an easy game to pick up, only the most experienced players will master it.

Welcome to Warhammer Underworlds at the Las Vegas Open 2023!

There are two events for this game system during LVO 2023. The Underworlds Rivals Tournament (listed as Vanguard) taking place on Friday and the Underworlds Grand Clash taking place on Saturday and Sunday. These two events have separate tickets that must each be purchased in order to participate; you will also need a convention badge to participate in either event.

On Friday, the 27th, we are holding a fast paced 1v1, best of 1 Rivals tournament. Play in a gambit of 5 matches leading to a Grand Finals match where the 2 highest ranked players will face off to determine the LVO 2023 Rivals Champion.

Then comes our 1v1, best of 3 Grand Clash on Saturday, the 28th and Sunday, the 29th. Build your best champions deck, grab your dice and your minis to test your skills in the Underworld. On Day 1 players will battle in 4 ranked matches to determine our top 16 that will move on to Day 2. On Day 2 the top 16 will be pitted in a single elimination bracket ending in a Grand Finals where we will crown the LVO 2023 Grand Champion.

 All LVO 2023 Underworlds events will have official GW prize support as well as custom made prizes.

FAQ’s -

        Q: What do I need to bring?

A: Each game of Warhammer Underworlds is played with 1 Warband (assembled), a Power deck, an Objective deck, a board, a set of WHU dice, and counters. All components (except counters) must be official GW products and every player will need each of these to play in a game. (some items may be available if you happen to forget something, but please do not count on it)

        Q: Do my minis have to be painted?

A: No, but it is encouraged as you may face off against the same warband and having distinct minis makes this much easier.

        Q: Can my minis be modified?

A: Yes, minis can be altered but not to the extent that your opponent cannot distinguish between your fighters. It will be up to the judges discretion during registration to either allow or not allow a particular miniature to be used.

        Q: Do my decks need to be sleeved?

A: Yes, all decks being used in either tournament must be sleeved, with both the Power deck and Objective deck each needing their own distinct color.

Formats/Rules -

Rivals:

For the LVO 2023 Rivals Tournament we will be using the official Warhammer Underworlds Rivals Format Rules. The only change to these rules is that each game is a best of 1, rather than a best of 3. Please read and understand these rules, as all players must follow them for picking Warbands, Rival Decks, and Boards.

(We will also be using the most up to date Erratas so please familiarize yourself with these changes) Current Errata

Grand Clash:

For the LVO 2023 Grand CLash Tournament we will be using the official Warhammer Underworlds Champion Format Rules (pg. 2 & 3). The only change to these rules is that we will be allowing the players to use the Fearsome Fortress rivals deck as a part of their deck building. Please read and understand these rules, as all players must follow them for picking Warbands, Boards, and Building Decks.
