MRMR RESPECTS THE PRIVACY OF VISITORS ON ITS WEBSITE/PLATFORM. THE TYPE OF INFORMATION AND WAYS MRMR COLLECTS AND USES THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE WHILE ON MRMR’S WEBSITES (“WEBSITE”), MRMR MOBILE APPLICATIONS (“APPS”) (COLLECTIVELY REFERRED TO AS THE “PLATFORM”) AND DURING CERTAIN OTHER INTERACTIONS AS LISTED BELOW. WHEN WE SAY “THE MRMR PLATFORM” OR “PLATFORM” OR “MRMR” WE MEAN THE WEBSITE – MRMR.SOCIAL, AND THE MOBILE APPLICATION MRMR.SOCIAL.    

 

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US THAT YOUR PRIVACY IS SECURED WHILE USING OUR SERVICES. THIS PRIVACY POLICY (“PRIVACY POLICY”) DESCRIBES HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT FROM YOU, WHICH MAY INCLUDE YOUR PERSONAL DATA. WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA TO PROVIDE AND IMPROVE THE SERVICE. BY USING THE SERVICE, YOU AGREE TO THE COLLECTION AND USE OF INFORMATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS PRIVACY POLICY.

 

WE HAVE DONE OUR BEST TO DESCRIBE THE POLICY AS SIMPLY AND ACCESSIBLY AS WE CAN, SO YOU ARE BEST INFORMED ABOUT HOW YOUR INFORMATION IS USED.

This Privacy Policy must be read in conjunction with the Terms of Service, Abridged Community Guidelines and the Community Guidelines. All capitalised terms that have not been specifically defined herein shall have the same meaning as provided under the Terms of Use.

SCOPE

This Privacy Policy applies whenever you use our services in any way, whether through our mobile application or our website or any other way in which we offer our service. Accordingly, by accessing, downloading or using the Platform) you agree to be governed by this Privacy Policy. They equally apply whenever you interact with us or receive communications from us. It does not matter what kind of device you use to access our services.

MRMR is an anonymous microblogging platform primarily for college students and alumni. The users acknowledge and understand that any content (including their user handle, profile picture and published posts) created by the users, is publicly available and searchable by anyone around the world. It is advised that the users do not post any personal (or sensitive) data on the Platform. You should be careful of what you are posting on the Platform, for the updates will be reflected in your feed and will be visible to other users of the Platform, or anyone else who accesses our services, depending upon the privacy setting specifically chosen by you for your account.    

You acknowledge and agree that by providing public content on the Platform, you are authorizing and advising us to disclose that information on the Platform and allow for wide circulation. When you are using hashtags, our APIs, and that of other third-party service providers will also have access to such information. We do not govern the operations of these entities, and you may be required to adhere to their policies, hence, we urge you to refer to their policies and familiarize yourself with the same, prior to engaging with such third-party platforms.

By setting up an account on the Platform, you agree to our processing, storage, usage, and sharing of data provided by you under this Policy. If you do not agree with any of the terms of this policy or the Terms of Use or wish to revoke any consent you have provided to us, please write to us at mrmr@mrmr.social. However, if you revoke any mandatory permissions then we may have to cease providing you with access to the Platform and services therein.

INFORMATION COLLECTED BY MRMR

At the time of registration: When you choose to register on the Platform, we will seek certain identifiers which qualify as personal data (as defined at law), and some of these identifiers will have to be mandatorily collected, and some will have to be collected only upon your discretion, and consent.

  1. The information which you provide to us, mandatorily are:

 

  1. Mobile number and/or e-mail address: For creation of a unique profile, identification, authentication via OTP and any communications from us or on our behalf or by any third parties engaged by us to provide the Service.
  2. Username or e-mail address: If you sign up/sign in to your mrmr account using a One-Tap/Single Sign On (SSO) from any supported third party service which allows authentication of your identity and allows you to share personal information with us (such as your name or email or profile photo) to pre-populate signup/sign into the mrmr platform.
  3. College Name and Batch Details

 

  1. The information which you may choose to additionally provide, are:

 

  1. Name: for purposes of identification by the Platform;
  2. Date of Birth: for the purposes of identification and/or displaying on your profile;
  3. Gender: for the purposes of displaying on your profile;
  4. Location/Address: for the purposes of customizing your experience on the Platform;
  5. The language that you wish to communicate in: for the purposes of posting content on MRMR;
  6. Language preference: for the purposes of customisation of the Content, and other services offered to you;
  7. Education: if you choose to provide or upload your resume via the Platform.
  8. Description of Self: for the purposes of displaying on your profile;
  9. Relationship Status: for the purposes of displaying on your profile;
  10. Access to information on your device to optimize your use and access of the Platform. You can restrict the access granted to MRMR, from the device settings. No device permission will be taken from you without your explicit consent;

We also collect behavioural information about how you use the Platform. You can restrict the access granted to the Platform, from the device settings. No device permission will be taken from you without your explicit consent. MRMR is an anonymous thoughts and opinions platform primarily for college students and alumni. The Platform’s features allow us to customize or prioritize your feed in a particular way, depending on how you use the Platform. We assist this customisation by showing you content and information based on your interests. This service helps us to make MRMR more relevant and engaging for you. When you use our services, we may collect the following information.

  1. Phone Number and Contacts- MRMR uses phone numbers as unique identifiers so that it is easy for you to share content across multiple platforms/messaging apps. We seek your permission before syncing your contacts.

We may also store your updated contacts from the phonebook in order to notify you as soon as one of your contacts signs up for the Platform. We only need the number and name (first and last) for this to work and store no other data about your contacts.

Our automated anonymized algorithms can also be used to identify the unregistered phone numbers on the Platform. When you open the 'Invite friends' interface, we display the resulting statistics next to your contacts to give you an idea of who could benefit most from joining MRMR.

You can always stop syncing contacts or delete them from our servers via Settings > Privacy & Security > Contacts.

  1. Location, Camera, Photos, Audios and Videos – Many of our services require us to collect images and other information from your device’s camera and photos. We seek your permission before such authorisation. For example, you won’t be able to create content or upload photos from your camera roll unless we can access your camera or photos. Hence, to add certain content, like pictures, you may allow us to access your camera or photo album. We use your location to provide you with posts and updates from around your location.

 

3.         At the time of Profile Verification – Depending on which jurisdiction you are in, in order to verify your profile, we will collect information from you for verification of your identity. Information that we collect may include mobile number; college email ID; college name; college student status (such as first year, second year, third year, alumni) or any other identification document(s) issued by government authorities or/and college authorities. We seek this information from you only when you seek to become an authenticated profile on the Application, while using our Services, and such information is not disclosed to the public.

 

4.        Third Party Service Information – When you choose to link third party services with the Platform (including other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) we will collect your user ID (or equivalent) for such third-party services as well as any information that you may choose to share from that third party service with us.

 

5.         Information from your use of our Services – When you use our Services, we collect the following information automatically:

 

·           Content of user (text, images, graphics, audio, visuals, etc.);

·           People who have visited your profile and vice versa;

·           Information on your browser and server logs, including your IP address, information in the cookies and your browsing history;

·           URL information, time stamp, visit information, your browsing history;

·           Date of download and/or reinstall of MRMR;

·           Events related to your actions (time spent, how often and when you visit the Platform etc.);

·           Users who send you chat requests and have chatted with you;

·           The Unique Device Identifier on the Application; and

·           Details about how you’ve used our services;

·           Device information, such as your web browser type and language;

·           pages viewed;

·           Identifiers associated with cookies or other technologies that may uniquely identify your device or browser; and

We do not collect any further information which is not specifically communicated to you as per this Privacy Policy. You have the ability and choice of restricting certain kinds of information from being collected by adjusting your phone and device settings. Please refer to your phone and device user manuals for more information. Please note that this may, however, affect which services we are effectively able to offer.

6.         Surveys – We may collect additional information at other times, including but not limited to, when you provide feedback(s), modify your content or email preferences, respond to surveys, provide comments, or communicate with us. This information may include your name, e-mail id, mobile number, location, etc. and only such information that you may choose to specifically provide to us.

 

7.         Chat Data –When you use any chat feature on the Platform, the content of any communications between you and another user is stored by us, in addition to it being stored on your devices. The chat data is not encrypted and can be viewed and monitored by us.

 

8.         Customer Support Information. Any information that you provide to our customer support team regarding any assistance or support that you may require for using our Platform from time to time.

 

9.         Cookies – We use cookies and similar technologies which are necessary to its functioning. Some of these cookies are essential for us to provide you with the Services on the Platform. We, or our third-party service providers, may use cookies, mobile app analytics and similar technologies to track visitor activity and collect data on the Platform. We may combine this data with other personal data we have collected from users.

 

10.   Device Data – "Device Data" includes without limitation, the following:

 

  1. Device attributes: information such as the operating system, hardware and software versions, battery level, signal strength, available storage space, browser type, app and file names and types, and plugins.
  2. Device operations: information about operations and behaviours performed on the device, such as whether a window is foreground or background.
  3. Identifiers: unique identifiers, device IDs, and other identifiers, such as from games, apps or accounts you use.
  4. Device signals: We may collect your Bluetooth signals, and information about nearby Wi-Fi access points, beacons, and cell towers.
  5. Data from device settings: information you allow us to receive through device settings you turn on, such as access to your GPS location, camera or photos.
  6. Network and connections: information such as the name of your mobile operator or ISP, language, time zone, mobile phone number, IP address and connection speed.
  7. Media: We access the media gallery on your mobile device, including without limitation, images, videos and audio files and the storage space on your phone. However, we shall always obtain your consent before accessing your images and you shall have the option to deny us such access.

 

11.        Other Information – When you take certain actions on other sites, we may receive information about you. For example, when we advertise for MRMR on third party platforms, if you click on the ad, we may receive information about which ad you saw and on which platform. Similarly, we may also receive certain information when you click on a referral link, such as which website you came from.

HOW DOES MRMR USE THE INFORMATION?

We use the data collected to operate, personalize, maintain and improve our platform. We use the information collected as follows:

  1. MRMR collects the contact information of users at the time of registration to maintain your user profile on the Platform. A user's name, title, college, and/or country will be transferred to Colleges/Universities, if required.  
  2. Create and update your Account on the Platform. Upon signing on to the Platform, we will assign you a unique system generated screen name (pseudonym), which can be changed once your account is created. The platform promotes pseudonymity and therefore we will not display your real name, if you choose to do so;
  3. Personalise the service, including remembering the devices from which you have previously logged in and remembering your selections and preferences as you navigate the Platform. To help us identify you when you log onto the Platform and when you register an account with us, and, to validate, authorize and map a specific profile with an authorized user;
  4. Facilitate your invitations to friends who you want to invite to join the Platform. We may access your phonebook to pseudonymously connect you to your existing contacts who are also on the platform;
  5. The Platform uses personal information you share with us to provide products or services that you request, answer your inquiries or communicate with you about your account or transactions with us, and send you information about features on the Platform or changes to our policies, communicate with you about the Platform, including by sending service-related announcements, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages. We may also disclose certain data to third parties that perform services on our behalf and have a need to access the data in connection with those services. MRMR may use your email address to send periodic promotional emails and special offers;
  6. Enable security features of the Platform, such as by sending you security codes via email or SMS, and remembering devices from which you have previously logged in;
  7. For marketing and outreach, we use the data we collect to market our platform. This includes sharing your feedback, ratings and screen names for purely promotional and marketing purposes. Such promotion and marketing may be done via hoardings, banners, pamphlets etc.;
  8. For fraud detection and preventing misuse, we use the data we collect to detect fraudulent usage of the platform and/or misuse of any of the features of the platform.
  9. For enabling customer support and communication, we use the information to provide customer support and train our customer service executives. We may further add features that allow you to call us (through the Platform or otherwise), similarly, we may also need to contact you through the Platform;
  10. The Platform uses cookies or web beacons to remember registered users and to monitor use and behavioural information gathered through the Platform. Cookies and web beacons do not contain personally identifiable information; however, if you are a registered user, we may store this information with your registration information to enable us to better serve you. Use of cookies may also allow MRMR to automate your access to password-protected portions of the Platform making it unnecessary for you to have to re-enter your password each time you visit our Platform;
  11. For providing location-based services, as and where, requested by you;
  12. To provide and process service requests initiated by you.

  1. Service improvement and analytics. MRMR regularly analyses data pertaining to visitor trends, research consumption, and research grading in order to improve our research, plan site enhancements, and measure overall site effectiveness.

 

  1. Compliance and protection. We may use your personal information to:

 

  • for legal compliance and requirements, we use the data we collect to address claims or disputes relating to the use of our platform, or as otherwise allowed by applicable law, or as requested by regulators, government entities, and official inquiries.
  • comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, and legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas, investigations or requests from government authorities;
  • protect our, your or others’ rights, privacy, safety or property (including by making and defending legal claims);
  • audit our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements or our internal policies;
  • enforce the terms and conditions that govern the Platform; and
  • prevent, identify, investigate and deter fraudulent, harmful, unauthorised, unethical or illegal activity, including cyberattacks and identity theft.

 

  1. To create aggregated, de-identified and/or anonymized data. We may create aggregated, de-identified and/or anonymized data from your personal information and other individuals whose personal information we collect. We make personal information into de-identified and/or anonymized data by removing information that makes the data identifiable to you. Aggregated (non-personally identifiable) user behaviour collected through cookies or web beacons may be shared with our other third-party service providers to either analyse or execute marketing programs.

We may use this aggregated, de-identified and/or anonymized data and share it with third parties for our lawful business purposes, including to analyse and improve the Service and promote our business.

WHEN WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

We may share any information with our trusted partners or third parties who provide us with infrastructure support services, for meeting the obligations agreed to between you and us. We may also share aggregated, non-personally identifiable information publicly and with our partners, like publishers, advertisers or connected sites to show trends about the general use of our Services. We will seek your consent prior to using or sharing your personal data for any other purpose, if so, identified at a later stage.

We may share your personal information with the following parties and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy, in other applicable notices, or at the time of collection.

  1. Affiliates. Our corporate parent, subsidiaries, and affiliates for purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy.
  2. Service providers. Third parties that provide services on our behalf or help us operate the Service or our business (such as hosting, information technology, customer support, email delivery, marketing, consumer research and website analytics).
  3. Linked third-party services. If you log into the Service with or otherwise link your Service account to a third-party service, we may share your personal information with that third-party service. The third party’s use of the shared information will be governed by its privacy policy and the settings associated with your account with the third-party service.
  4. Professional advisors. Professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors, bankers and insurers, where necessary in the course of the professional services that they render to us.
  5. Authorities and others. Law enforcement, government authorities, and private parties, as we believe in good faith to be necessary or appropriate for the Compliance and protection purposes described above.
  6. Business transferees. We may disclose personal information in the context of actual or prospective business transactions, for example, we may need to share certain personal information with prospective counterparties and their advisers. We may also disclose your personal information to an acquirer, successor, or assignee of Drizzle Studios Pvt Ltd as part of any merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar transaction, and/or in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership in which personal information is transferred to one or more third parties as one of our business assets.
  7. Other users and the public. Your profile and other user-generated content (except for messages) are visible to other users of the Service and the public. For example, other users of the Service or the public may have access to your information if you chose to make your profile or other personal information available to them through the Service, such as when you provide comments, reviews, survey responses, or share other content.  This information can be seen, collected and used by others, including being cached, copied, screen captured or stored elsewhere by others (e.g., search engines), and we are not responsible for any such use of this information.

We may also use your information to perform analytics and conduct customer research, to determine your interest, for identifying content that generates sales and to analyse traffic patterns.

We also use your information to market products and/or services to you as per the laws of your country, and to the extent permissible.

DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION

We may also disclose your personal data only:

  1. To comply with the law. As required by law, such as to comply with a judicial order, executive orders, requirement by a law enforcement authority, or by other legal processes.
  2. When your desired products and services can only be provided if your personal data is disclosed.
  3. Sale, Acquisition, or Transfer of Assets. If we (or our affiliates) are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets or equity. Such information shall be disaggregated to the extent possible and shall be subject to execution of appropriate non-disclosure agreements and binding privacy undertakings.
  4. In an emergency. We may share information if we believe in good faith that it's necessary to prevent serious harm to a person. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, or, investigate fraud or crime.
  5. To enforce our policies and rights. We may share information if needed to enforce our Terms of Service, Abridged Community Guidelines, Community Guidelines, or other policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of ourselves and others.
  6. Info to Ad Providers. We do not share your personal data with any third-party advertisers or ad networks except for: (i) hashed IDs or device identifiers (to the extent they are personal data in some countries); (ii) with your separate permission (e.g., in a lead generation form) or (iii) data already visible to any users of the Services (e.g., profile). However, if you view or click on an ad on or off our Services, the ad provider will get a signal that someone visited the page that displayed the ad, and they may, through the use of mechanisms such as cookies, determine it is you. Advertising partners can associate personal data collected by the advertiser directly from you with hashed IDs or device identifiers received from us. In such instances, we seek to contractually require such advertising partners to obtain your explicit, opt-in consent before doing so.

We provide advertisers with reports on the types of people who see their ads and how their ads are performing. We do not share information that identifies you personally (such as your name, contact details or any information to identify who you are) without your permission but we may provide them with aggregate information about our users (for example, we may inform them that any given number of women in a specified age group clicked on their advertisement on any given day). We provide general demographic and interest information to advertisers so that they can better understand their audience.

Other Legal Requirements

The company may disclose your personal data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

·           Comply with a legal obligation

·           Protect and defend the rights or property of the company

·           Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the service

·           Protect the personal safety of users of the service or the public

·           Protect against legal liability

*We will never rent or sell your personally identifiable information to others.

USER RIGHTS ON MRMR

We want to ensure that you are fully empowered on the Platform and are completely aware of the rights that you are entitled to in the course of using the Platform. You have a number of rights in relation to the personal data we hold about you.

1.          Access. The right to access your personal information we hold about you, and to obtain details of the processing. You also have the right to access a list of all the third parties that have your personal data through us.

2.         Rectification. The right to seek, correct, update and modify your personal data available with us, to ensure accuracy.

3.         Cancellation. The right to seek to cancel or erase, free of charge, your personal information when it is inadequate, excessive, or unnecessary. This shall be subject to the lawful processing measures.

4.         Objection. The right to restrict or withdraw your consent to, our continued processing of your personal data, at any point of time, subject only to any legitimate reason for continued processing in certain circumstances.

5.         Portability. The right to seek from us your personal data to be provided to another service provider, in a machine-readable format.

6.         Unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe from promotional emails you receive at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of the email and may disable notifications on your mobile device. You may not be able to opt-out of important service announcements and administrative messages.

7.         Deletion of Cookies. Please note that MRMR or other MRMR vendors or third-party advertisers may also use cookies that are independent of those placed by our analytics contractor (for example, to remember your password or tailor Platform content). You may, therefore, also choose to delete all cookies from your hard drive. If you delete a cookie, however, please be advised that some features of our website/application may not be accessible to you. Another option available to you is to change the preferences or settings in your web browser to control cookies. In some cases, you can choose to accept cookies from a primary Platform, block them from third parties, or clear out all cookies.

You can always contact mrmr@mrmr.social should you have any questions or concerns. This shall be subject to the legal requirements, and our internal procedure.

DELETE YOUR PERSONAL DATA                  

It is important to us that you remain in control of your data. You are free to remove or rectify or delete content from your user account/profile and your account/ profile at any point in time. However, the history of your activities and account on our Platform remains available to us. You may correct, amend, add or delete Personal Information from your account at any time by logging in and visiting your profile page. As noted above, you may opt out from unwanted email communications from us by following the instructions in the message. However, until your account is deleted you will continue to receive all system emails.

 

Under Section 5(6) of the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 ("Rules"), you have a right to ask us to review, correct and amend the information we collect about you at any point in time. Under Section 5(7) of the Rules, you also have the right to revoke your consent to the collection of your information going forward.

  1. Right to rectification. If any personal data provided by you is inaccurate, incomplete or outdated, then you shall have the right to provide us with accurate, complete and up to date data and have us rectify such data at our end immediately. We urge you to ensure that you always provide us with accurate and correct information to ensure that your use of our platform is uninterrupted.
  2. Right to erasure. You have the right to demand us to erase your data and we will do so without undue delay, provided that the data is no longer required by us and there is no legal requirement to retain the data. Do note that multiple legal bases may exist in parallel and we may still have to retain certain personal data at any time, despite your request to delete it. We may not be able to provide you with our services and access to the platform, once your personal data is deleted.
  3. Right to confirmation and access. You can seek confirmation from us as to whether any of your data is being or has been processed. If we are processing such data, then you may ask us for a summary of such processed data. You also have the right to ask us for a summary of our processing activities.
  4. Right to opt-out. You may opt-out of receiving promotional and marketing emails from us by writing to us. You may also opt-out of receiving emails and other messages from us by following the unsubscribe instructions in those messages. Please note that opting out of receiving push notifications may impact your use of the platform. However, even if you opt-out of receiving our promotional and marketing emails, we will still send you transactional messages through emails that may be required during your use of the platform.

 

Please note that revoking your consent may negatively affect your use of the Platform. For instance, we need access to your mobile device’s media folder and camera so that you can click pictures from your mobile device and post them on the Platform, which functionality will not be available to you if you do not provide us such access. You may also ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. You can exercise any of these rights at any time by contacting us at mrmr@mrmr.social. However, we require a reasonable period of 30 (thirty) days to comply with any of your requests. Additionally, for deleting your account from the Platform and removing user data, please go to the settings of your App and click on the 'Delete Account' option.

 

RETENTION OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

In relation to other personal data, we store them for certain predetermined periods based on the basis of (i) statutory and legal requirements; (ii) industry guidelines, (iii) de-identified or pseudonymised data sets to be used in an aggregated format for scientific, statistical or historical purposes.

We retain the information which we have collected for a period no longer than is necessary, and as may be required in law, and to comply with applicable laws, including any data retention and storage requirements that may be provided under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. Our endeavour is to immediately act on your request for deletion, and we strive that we do not retain your data for longer than required for the purpose for which the information may be lawfully used. If we need to retain your personal data for a longer period, we will inform you prior to the extension of the storage period. We will delete your information whenever you request us to do so. However, we may archive and/or retain some information for legal purposes. Any other information which is processed by us for analytical purposes, will only be processed in an aggregated or non-identifiable basis.

The company will also retain usage data for internal analysis purposes. Usage data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our service, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.

OPTING OUT

You can always opt out of our services or choose not to disclose information to us at any time. However, keep in mind that some information may be needed to register with us or to take advantage of some of our special features. By providing limited information, or by availing the opt-out provision, you may not be able to access full functionalities of our services and application, and some features may be disabled for your access.

We reserve the right to continue to keep a copy of any of your personal data if required by law. We may use any aggregated/anonymized data derived from your account, in a matter which shall not infringe upon your privacy.

ACCOUNT CLOSURE

We keep some of your data even after you close your account. If you choose to close your account on the Platform, your personal data will generally stop being visible to others on our Platform within 24 hours. We generally delete closed account information within 90 days of account closure, except as noted below.

We retain your personal data even after you have closed your account if reasonably necessary to comply with our legal obligations (including law enforcement requests), meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse,  enforce our User Agreement, or fulfil your request to "unsubscribe" from further messages from us. We will retain de-personalized information after your account has been closed.

Groups content and ratings or review content associated with closed accounts will show an unknown user as the source.
