This Is The Problem

“The Laws of Nature and of Nature's God (Rom 1:18-20)

•  It is a way of speaking of God insofar as God is knowable by human reason.
• God has revealed His Eternal Power and Divine Nature (Ps 19:1-6)
• There is no excuse (v. 20b)

What Man Always Does (Rom 1:21-23)

• They know God and Reject Him
• Their Hearts are Darkened
• Their Wisdom is Foolishness to God (emōranthēsan, “became stupid”)
• They fashion Idols of themselves (Isa 44:1-20)

The Result is Always the Same (Rom 1:24-32)

• In Stupidity we worship the highest form of creation
• The highest form of creation is Man
• Therefore the highest form of worship is the passions of man
• The highest passion of man is born out in the most natural intimate and glorious act man can do, the use of the crown of Creation, namely, how we use the very body God has given
• We know God’s Righteous Decrees lead to life, we choose death
• We twist God’s Gift for His Glory to the Perversion of Our Body for Our Glory

The Natural Progression of Rejecting Nature's God (Rom 1:25, 28, 32)

• We exchange the Truth for a Lie (v. 25)
• We put the Lie into practice doing what ought not to be done (v. 28)
• We affirm this lie so that we feel justified and encourage it in others (v. 32)

What The Church Must Do (Isa 44:21-22, Rom 1:16-17)

• Remember the Redeemer (Isa 44:21-22)
• Unashamed Gospel Faith (Rom 1:16-17)
