Summary: 

The Power of Indigenous Song is a new initiative at the Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library. We welcome an undergraduate or graduate student to join us in identifying and describing primary sources of music by Indigenous peoples of the Americas. In the first phase of the project, the intern will perform research and create records. In the second phase, the intern will be invited to celebrate Indigenous song in the artistic or academic mode of their choosing.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Create original records in the International Inventory of Musical Sources (RISM), a free online database, for those instances of Indigenous song which are recorded in European staff notation and which are readily available at Harvard Library or nearby institutions, or online.

• Create a Zotero bibliography for all of the sources of Indigenous song discovered
• Produce a live performance, a virtual or in-person library exhibition, a scholarly article, or a conference presentation 

Basic Qualifications: 

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate library science program or a related field of study
• Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Antiracism 
• Ability to read and write in English

Additional Qualifications: 

• The ability to read European staff notation is essential. No languages apart

from English are required, however an appreciation for Indigenous history

and culture would be an asset
