AUGUST 23, 2012

Hello and welcome to a new school year.  We ended last year with so many great plans and ideas that we are already in motion for this year. We can’t wait to meet new parents and staff. If you are planning to join the PTC this year bring a friend along as well. Our first meeting will be September 12, 2012 (Wed.) at 6:00.

A spaghetti dinner in conjunction with open house for grades 2-5 will be on Sept. 20. The proceeds for this dinner will go to the OTES after school program. Anyone is welcome to volunteer (go to the volunteer spot on the school’s web page to sign up).We ask people if they would like to donate a box of spaghetti for the event that would be great. Each community in the school will work together to donate items for baskets to raffle off that evening. The ptc will make two baskets; a Scentsy basket and a sports basket (could include OT sports items).  We are looking at getting Texas Roadhouse rolls, Labree’s Bakery has donated cupcakes, spaghetti and sauce from Sam’s Club and salad fixings as well.

Riverfest (end of September)

We will be having a booth during this time on the river front. We will be selling popcorn, bottled waters, baked goods and possibly cotton candy. Volunteers will be needed in shifts please see the volunteer spot to sign up.

The fall fundraiser will be through Charleston Wrap once again. We signed on early; therefore we got some nice signing perks. We received a great percentage rate back to the school and the teachers will all receive great bags (we love our teachers).  The theme is angry birds. There will be a random drawing for students at the end of the sale.  The sale flyers will go home the beginning of October and the cut off date will be October 15 in order for us to receive the items before Thanksgiving.

We did so well with the Box Tops last year that they have upped our goal this year to $6,002.00. We can do it!!!!!!!!  There will be notices going home and printed sheets to put the box tops on. Healthy little competitions will be going on between the school communities so make sure that you help your child’s class bring them on in.

We are hoping to have the Margarita nights this year. We raised over $500.00 last year.  Danielle was contacting them with some possible options; possibly Veteran’s day and another in March.

An idea for a Holiday Bizarre was brought up; possibly on Dec. 1. Erin Rossignol is looking into this and looking to find some vendors to join. If anyone is a sales representative of a company and would like to be considered for a spot in the bizarre please let a member of the ptc know and we will steer you in the right direction.

We will have child care available for the ptc meetings once again. Members of a University Sorority (not sure of the name at the moment) will be on site to care for them. They will have games and activities planned; (A big thank you to them for this service). It is a service project for them which they enjoying doing for their community.

There is a school program through Target when you use your Target debit and Target credit cards. You receive 5% off your purchase, but a certain percentage can also be designated to your school of choice (OTES of course). I will try to get some pamphlets about this resource to the school. You can ask any cashier at Target and they can set you up with this program.

As you can see there is a lot going on with the OTES PTC.  Please come and join us.  We love new input and it is a great group of people to be connected with. Having a PTC connection truly helps you to understand the great things that are offered to our children and really helps you to understand the school itself.
