The Escondido Arts Partnership will present their third juried Fiber & Book Art exhibition. Fiber & Book Artists working in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington are encouraged to submit work to the show. Fiber work can include paper, felt, fabric, yarn, cloth, plant or other organic materials. 75% of the piece should be fiber. The Escondido Municipal Gallery is located in the beautiful downtown Escondido historic district. September is Arts Month in San

Diego region.

ELIGIBILITY

You may enter Fiber & Book Art if: You are submitting your original handmade fiber work.

ENTRY FEE

The entry fee is $30.00 ($20.00 for EAP members) for one or $40.00

($30.00 for EAP members) for two pieces and is non-refundable. Up to two (2) pieces may be accepted into the exhibition. *Please mail a CD with jpg images of the 1 or 2 pieces you would like to submit for the show to the gallery to be received by July 21st, 2012. CD should include an image of the entire piece as well as a close-up. CD’s will not be returned. Clearly label each image with the artist’s name and the titles of the pieces. Do not send in the actual piece.

GENERAL PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS

We strive to protect your work. To prevent possible damage to it, and to those who will display it and view it, artwork must be appropriately prepared for exhibition when delivered. Work that fails to comply with entry requirements will be disqualified on discovery:

1) If your piece is framed, it should be wired, and ready to hang.

Clip frames, sawtooth hangers, and easel-backed frames, will NOT be accepted.

2) Two-dimensional works, which are under glass or Plexiglas, must be enclosed in stable frames with wire of sufficient gauge to support the weight of the work.

3) Submissions with special display needs must include a photo or simple diagram showing installation positions and spacing.

4) Artists are to fill out labels for each piece accepted into the show and to attach the labels to the work. Label should include name, title, price, phone # and address.

5) Work must have been completed within the past two years. Work previously exhibited at the Escondido Municipal Gallery will not be accepted for jurying.

If you anticipate that your work requires atypical hanging or display techniques, or if you  simply aren’t sure, please be sure to contact the gallery prior to delivery dates for clearance. Special hanging, display and/or lighting requirements will be at the discretion of the Exhibition Committee.

Entry fees are non-refundable, so please call EAP at (760) 480-4101 if you have questions regarding these requirements.

LIABILITY

The greatest possible care will be taken in handling artwork. The EAP and/or the City of Escondido, or their agents will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work submitted.

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK

Accepted artwork must be delivered in person or be received by mail (w/return address, postage, and box) by the receiving dates.

Awards presentation 6:30pm at the reception

Gallery hours are Tuesday 11-5pm, Thurs. thru

Saturday, 11 am - 4 pm

PARKING

You may park along Grand Ave. or in the municipal lot behind the

gallery and bring your work through the front entrance.

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE/NON-ACCEPTANCE

Artists will not be notified by mail or email regarding the acceptance/non-acceptance of their work, including notification of awards. A list of accepted work will be posted on our website,

www.escondidoarts.org/exhibition.htm by Aug. 1st.  All decisions by the juror will be final.

Return of Artwork

Please pick-up your artwork within (1) week after the close of the show. Work that was shipped to the gallery will be returned in the SASE that you have provided.

Artists must pick up artwork within 30 days after the end of the show. Artwork remaining at the EMG 60 days after the end of the show for which it was submitted will be donated to charity.

COMMISSION

Sales of exhibited works are strongly encouraged. There will be a 40% commission on any works sold out of the exhibition. No work may be removed before the end of the exhibition.

AWARDS

Cash awards will be presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
