Drawing with Annotation Scale
--Setup--
Open prototype:
- Set ANNOTATIVEDWG to 1 (THIS MUST BE FIRST)
- Set ANNOALLVISIBLE to 1 (Left annotate icon)
- Set ANNOAUTOSCALE=4 (Sometimes resets. Verify if problems with scale. Middle annotate icon)
- STYLE: Set to Annotative
- D[imstyle]: Modify & Fit tab, Set to Annotative
- Also set Annotative for Radial dimension style
- Select Annotation Scale button at bottom right & Custom...
- Add other scales like ⅜, ¾, 2:1, 4:1…...
Open A-Size border & Set ANNOTATIVEDWG to 1
- Close & save border
- You can set scale manually and use as usual but DO NOT use Annotative scales
Do the same for cutting plane arrow, DATUM block, etc.
*All new blocks created should be set to Annotative*
--Using in Modelspace--
***NOTE*** Using annotative scale is all in or not at all method. You can’t mix & match bits as you like.
Verify all annotation settings are correct on a new drawing
- For old drawings, Set Annotation Auto Scale on (ANNOAUTOSCALE=4)
Draw your geometry
Insert border at 1:1
- If a border is inserted at scale of 2 and Annotation scale 1:2, border scale is 4
- This means do NOT set border scale on insert
Set Annotation scale as need
Hatch, add notes, centerlines, etc. as needed
- Turn on Annotative for hatches. (This annotation setting, HPANNOTATIVE, cannot be saved.)
Add dimensions
- Dimensions will change size correctly but will not change location for correct offset
- Multiple dims can be created for the same feature at different scales
♦ If it turns out a different scale is needed, change the Annotation scale
- Fix dimensions
- REGEN (RE) to update line scales (center, hidden, etc.)
--Paperspace--
Inserting Annotative objects in Paperspace do not use the scale and are always the insert scale
- Verify ANNOALLVISIBLE is set to 1 & ANNOAUTOSCALE is set to 4
- Geometry & other objects in Modelspace are changed with the Annotation scale
- This includes blocks & hatch patterns
- Lines already scale to the Viewport scale, just REGEN
- If a hatch or block is not updating, go to Modelspace & set Annotation scale, set hatch origin to center, return to Paperspace
