| ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS | OUTCOMES What will the students know or be able to do at the end of the lesson? | ASSESSMENT How will the students demonstrate that they have accomplished the desired outcome? | STRATEGIES In what activities will the students be engaged to accomplish the desired outcome? | 3 HOTS QUESTIONS e.g. one should be on knowledge, one on application, and one on synthesis or evaluation. |
Mon
| Page 8 | Children will use real objects to create a simple real graph. | - Observe if children understand how to complete a bar graph. - Results of activity. | - Review number order and color words. - Independent Practice: Use connecting cubes in individual bags to complete a bar graph. | - What is a bar graph? - Tell what you do first, next and last when completing a graph? - What other objects can you collect, sort and record on a bar graph? |

Wed
| Page 8 | Children will use a real graph and a picture graph to compare length. | - Observe if children can create a real graph and a picture graph. - Results of activity. | - Review number order, color words and shapes. - Guided Practice: Create a real graph about the different lengths of pieces of yarn. - Independent Practice: Create a picture graph of a spoon, paper clip and crayon to determine its length. | - What is the difference between a real graph and a picture graph? - Use pieces of yarn to create a real graph and compare its length. - How would you create a real graph and a picture graph about your play clothes? |
Thurs
| Page 8 | Children will make and interpret real and picture graphs. | - Observe if children can use a real object to make and interpret a real and picture graph. - Results of activity. | - Review number order, color words, and shapes. - Guided Practice: Distribute one connecting cube to each child. Have children make a real graph by lining up according to the color of their cube. Have children identify which line has the most children. - Small Group: Use animal crackers and have children decide which one they like best. Have children place their favorite cracker in the appropriate row of their graph. Discuss which row has the most and the fewest. Children will draw a picture of the cracker he or she liked best, remove the cracker from the graph and tape the picture in the crackers place. | - Explain what a real graph and picture graph is. - What makes a picture graph special? - Tell of another type of picture graph you can create? |
