PRESIDENTS REPORT

July tournaments are on the 7th and the 21st. July 7th is a Low Net Tournament played on Mesa Linda.   Send your entry to Jack Price or place in the box in the locker room ASAP. Early bird gets the worm for tee times.

July 21st. is Team Play, Three Best Balls Net.  Mesa Linda white tees. Form your teams and send your entries to Jim Thornton or drop them in the box in the locker room.

Skee Gutmacher our treasure reports that we continue to be in good financial shape with a modest surplus. This will come in handy when we all will come together for a BBQ lunch and raffle in September.

Thank you all for being aware of slow play and how it affects the game. We all need to keep the pace of play a high priority and keep up with the group in front of us. When riding, do you drive over to your partner’s balls and wait for him to hit and then drive to your ball and he waits while you hit? Do you get into your cart and drive to your ball and then clean your club and put it away? Please think about how you can speed up play, little things add up. Could we wave up on some par 3’s? Think about the mind numbing waits on #2 Mesa and #4 Lagos

John Smith

President.

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR’S REPORT

July 21:  Mesa Linda.  Team Play.  Total of the Three Best Balls Net.  Form your team or I will.

Pace of Play:  Are you using ESC, Equitable Stroke Control method to finish out your hole for all non-qualiying scores.  Ex:  Your ESC number is 7 determined by your handicap.  You lay 5 just off the green and chip on.  At this point if you know your score WILL NOT be counted for your team/partnership score, then pick up  and record a 7 ‘x’.   Don’t understand?  Ask someone.

DO YOU LINE UP YOUR PUTT WHILE OTHERS ARE PUTTING?  ARE YOU READY TO PUTT IMMEDIATELY WHEN IT’S YOUR TURN?

In the June event the first group out finished in 4 1/2 hrs, the last group in 5 ½ hrs!   WE CAN DO BETTER.

Scotch Cup:  Two teams have been formed to play Laguna Woods on Jul 14 and 25.  We’re looking good.

MEMBERSHIP/HANDICAP REPORT

CMSGA had two new members join this month.  They are Robert Colclough of Huntington Beach and Jim Ortale of Huntington Beach.  Welcome to you both!

Our club membership now stands at 201 members.

A reminder to those of you who play a 9 hole round of golf –YOU NEED TO POST YOUR SCORE.  If you play and post two 9 hole scores, GHIN will combine them and create one score for your official handicap file.  If you play a minimum of 13 holes, you need to post an 18 hole score using Equitable Stroke Control (ESC).  ESC dictates that you give yourself net par on those holes you didn’t actually play.  Net par means that you give yourself a gross score of par plus any handicap strokes you are entitled to on that/those holes.

As always, if you have any questions about handicap or posting, please call me at (714) 536-6211 or e-mail me at msupple@socal.rr.com.  Also, if you posted any scores incorrectly, please let me know as soon as possible so that I can correct it for you.
