PHOTO Project One - The Great Beginning

DESCRIPTION

Cartier-Bresson is right, so let’s get to it!  You have two weeks to complete the following 5 (five) photo assignments.  You’ll need to contact Tina Morgan to reserve and borrow a camera for this project.  Unless you have your own DSLR to use, you’re to do these assignments with a simple Point and Shoot camera.  The DSLR stuff comes next.  You can even do these with a camera phone if you must (it might even be cool) –consult this tutorial if using a camera phone.

ASSIGNMENTS

• Themes - Architecture; People and Culture; Pattern and Color; and Horizons

• 25 images for each of the 4 themes

• 25 Portraits - Featuring at least 7 different people

• 25 Macro - Think compositions, pattern, texture, because you’re going to be CLOSE!

• Study - 30 images of the same subject

• Think variety in terms of angle, distance, location, time of day, lighting, position...

• 3 Stories - each story should be a minimum of 8 photos; consider a day in your life; weekend play; hanging out at a festival; a trip to the museum or another town - there must be a narrative

DIRECTIONS

You’ll use iPhoto to make a slideshow for each assignment as demonstrated in class

You can store your photos on your station in the Earp Lab on the Project Storage drive.

Also, your final photos should be uploaded to your Flickr account and have the following tags

• “art 130”
• “dcc”
• “svhec”
• Make sure your images are set to public.  (You can still disable downloading.)
