Welcome to a new school year. We are so excited by the number of people who came to the first meeting. Everyone seemed energetic and full of new and great ideas. There are a lot of events coming up for the ptc and we could sure use some help.  The first event is the spaghetti dinner, this Wednesday. The spaghetti dinner is in conjunction with the grade 2-5 open house.  There will be tables to wipe and supplies such as utensils, napkins, etc. to keep up with.  If you can help in any way please go to the volunteer spot on the school's website.  Riverfest is coming up as well. On September 29 the ptc will be selling popcorn, bottled water and other baked goods at the booth during the Riverfest celebration. If anyone has extra time that day and would like to volunteer to man the food table that would be great. Again you can go the volunteer spot on the school's website and sign up. If you are not able to volunteer time you could volunteer to purchase or make baked goods for sale on that day. You can bring them to the school office by Friday and label the item for Riverfest.


We set the price for the spaghetti supper at $10.00 per family or donation.  All money goes to fund the afterschool programs for the upper classes. We are hoping to extend this program to the lower grades at some point.


The first Margarita night has been set for November 12 which is Veteran's day.  Information will come at a later date, please mark it on your calendar.  Last year we received about $500.00 from this event, with a little more lead time we could really make this a big and most importantly fun event for many.


The Charleston Wrap fall fundraiser will be sent out very soon. The percentage that the ptc can earn from these sales are amazing!!!!!!


The holiday bazaar is still in the works.


Box top information and collection papers will go home with our students soon.


A staff member (Dorothy) of the robotics club came to the ptc to fill us in on all the wonderful things they have been doing.  She said they could do more with a little extra funding. The ptc granted her funds to help with the entry fees and possibly team t-shirts. Entry fees $375.00.


Some new ideas were brought up for future events.

*A family bingo night

*Making classroom theme baskets to raffle off including all the parents help.

*A giving tree for teacher supplies ( collecting supply lists and snacks that would help the teachers)

*Finding ways to help our teachers with some daily routines such as photocopying and making materials.  All parents are asked to give 10 hours of volunteer time to the school, there is so much to be done and if we all pitch in it doesn’t seem so hard to get it all accomplished.


We look forward to this year. It will bring great things for our children.
