7th Grade Sewing & Cooking Class Outline, Procedures, and Grading

Class Outline

·             Buying and caring for clothes

·             Safe use and care of the sewing machine and sewing equipment

·             Practice sewing

·             Sewing project – ordering information will be sent  home soon for boxer shorts/pajama pants

·             Kitchen/cooking safety

·             Choose my Plate

o   Building a healthy plate

§  Fruits,  vegetables, protein, grains, dairy

o   Dos and don’ts

·             Cooking in cooperative groups

·             Finding and using  reliable recipes

·             Measuring techniques

Procedures

·             Student agrees to follow posted Social Contract and classroom procedures; the main one being “Please use Good Manners and Common Sense” (please let me know if you would like a copy)

Grading

·             Trimester grade will be determined by a good faith effort on the sewing project, daily activities, class participation, homework, quizzes and tests.
