Editor’s Corner

Jai Jinendra,

Summer is in full bloom with kids out of school and families are traveling or enjoying long summer days. Be sure to stay cool and limit extended exposure to Sun.

A number of families traveled to Houston for the JAINA convention. We will have a short “Reflections” session in the upcoming JAIN meeting where the members will recount their experience.

Annual Picnic

This year's picnic was combined with Father's day Celebration and the event was a huge success. We had larger than expected turnout this year (approx. 120 people).

We had an exciting fun-filled day planned with activities throughout the day. The day started with traditional breakfast. This year, thanks to Mrs. Arti Pravin Shah, we enjoyed delicious “Vegan Tea”. After breakfast, the Vardhman group recited several poems and performed a short skit dedicated to Fathers on the occasion of “Father’s Day”. This was followed by older children saying a few words about their Fathers.

Everyone enjoyed playing Volleyball, Frisbee, badminton, and riding the paddle boats/rowboats. The afternoon entertainment feature was an instant hit!

It’s worth mentioning that managing Food for this year’s picnic posed a challenge. Mr. Ajay Shah had to leave urgently to see his mother in India and Mrs. Rekha Banker stepped up to wear the hat of “Food Coordinator”. She did a fantastic job keeping everything in order and her team of volunteers kept everything well organized. Hats off to the team!
