No-Nonsense Traveling Clothes:
Materials:
(I used the same size needles and yarn that I used for my doll)
Skirt:
Cast On 14 stitches (If worked in the round) or 16 stitches (If worked flat) using Very Stretchy Cast On ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf8cY_djTRI&list=PL10226E7DC51857B3&index=24&feature=plpp_video ).
Work K2, P2 rib for 18 rows.
Bind of using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abBhe-JYmgI&list=PL10226E7DC51857B3&index=22&feature=plpp_video ).
If worked in round weave in ends. If worked flat stitch up the back using mattress stitch.
Jacket:
Worked Flat
Back:
Cast on 14 sts.
Garter Stitch for 2 rows.
Rows 1-4: SS for 4 rows starting with a knit row.
Row 5: K1, K2tog, K8, K2tog, K1 [12 sts].
Rows 6-8: SS for 3 rows.
Row 9: K1, K2tog, K6, K2tog, K1 [10 sts].
Rows 10-12: SS for 3 rows.
Row 13: Bind off 2 sts, K7 [8 sts].
Row 14: Bind Off 2 sts, P5 [6 sts].
Rows 15-19: SS for 5 rows.
Bind Off knitwise.
Left Front:
Cast on 10 sts.
Garter stitch for 2 rows.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: P8, K2.
Row 3: Knit.
Row 4. P8, K2.
Row 5: K2, K2tog, K4, K2tog [8 sts].
Row 6: P6, K2.
Row 7: Knit.

Row 7: Knit.
Row 8: K2, P6.

Row 13: Bind Off 2 sts knitwise, K3 [4 sts].
Row 14: K2, P2.
Row 15: Knit.

Cast off knitwise.
Arms (make two):
Cast on 14 sts (for in the round) or 16 sts (if worked flat)
Garter stitch for 2 rows.
Rows 1-28: Work in SS for 28 rows starting with a knit row.
Bind off.
Making Up: You may wish to block your clothes. Pin sides to the back and use whip stitch to attach sides to jacket. Place arms in armholes and whip stitch around bound off edges to the armholes. Attach a piece of yarn to the top corners of each side of the top of the jacket (you may wish to crochet a chain or knit an i-chord) to be able to tie the top closed.
Top:
Cast on 20 sts (if worked in the round) or 22 sts (if worked flat).
Work Garter stitch for 2 rows.
Rows 1-8: SS for 8 rows starting with a knit row.
Cast off knitwise.
If worked in the round, weave in ends. If worked flat use mattress stitch to sew up the back, then weave in ends.
Hat:
Worked in the round, using U.S. crochet terms.
Using a size K/6.50 mm crochet hook, make a slip knot and work 6 sc into it. Join in the round with a slip stitch.
Round 1: Work 2 hdc into each sc, join [12 sts].
Round 2: *Work 1 hdc, then work 2 hdc into same hdc*, repeat six more times, join.
Round 3: *Work 2 hdc, then work 2 hdc into same hdc*, repeat six more times, join.
Round 4: *Work 3 hdc, then work 2 hdc into same hdc*, repeat six more times, join.
Round 5: Work round in hdc, join.
Round 6: *Work 3 hdc, then work a hdc decrease*, repeat six more times, join.
Round 7: *Work 2 hdc, then work a hdc decrease*, repeat six more times, join.
Round 8: Work one round in sc, join.
Weave in ends!
