What is happening in Physical Education…
My name is Devan McIntyre and I look forward to being your child’s Physical Education teacher for this school year. I pledge to create maximum opportunities for students of all abilities to be successful. If your child cannot take physical education on his/her day, I will need a note from home. If your child must miss more than 2 times, I will need a note from the doctor. Finally, if your child has a medical condition where I may need to alter their physical education program, please contact me at school to discuss this issue. Make sure your child wears tennis shoes on their P.E. day!!!
K-2 receives grades as follows:
S = Superior behavior, great responsibility, seldom redirected
S- = Average behavior, redirected occasionally
N = Needs improvement, seat changes, getting along with others
U = Unsatisfactory
4-8 receives grades as follows:
These students will be graded according to six basic rules they must follow.
S = 1. Actively Participates 2. Group Cooperation 3. Prepared with Appropriate Materials 4. Listens and
Follows Directions 5. Character Counts (Fairness, Caring, Respect, Responsibility, Citizenship, and
Trustworthiness) 6. Be on time
S- = Meets most of the above expectations
N = Meets some of the above expectations
U = Meets no expectations
If a student is not following one of these rules, they will receive a mark. Each 9 weeks, students are
allowed two marks. If they receive 3 they get an S-. Four or more marks will be a N.
If a student chooses to not participate, this will result in a writing assignment. The student will also
receive a Level 1 offense.
A few things that may make your child's
PE classes more enjoyable are:
Always come to class ready to PARTICIPATE and willing to learn new game related activities or exercises BY:
(1)Bringing or wearing gym shoes on P.E. days.(See Below)
(2)Wearing appropriate clothing - be prepared to run, get on the floor and sweat!
(3)Bringing doctor's note or written excuse if unable to participate
Here is a visual of shoes that are NOT appropriate for gym:
SAFETY for our students is our number one priority
and we need everyone's cooperation in meeting that goal!
