History of Bangladesh:

Bangladesh is a country in South Asia, it is bordered by India on all sides except for a small border with Burma (Myanmar) to the southeast and by the Bay of Bengal to the south. Together with the Indian state of West Bengal, it makes up the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal. The name Bangladesh means "Country of Bengal" in the official Bengali language. The game of Kabbadi is one of the oldest games of Indian origin. It was more than 4000 years ago when the ancient Indian Mahabharata describes a battle between the warrior Abhimanyu the heir of the Pandava Kings with the Cauravas inside the enemy camp.

Kabaddi aims for people in maintaining their health always fit through the game. It also aims to develop the skills of self-defense, attack as well as survival. Those who play Kabaddi live by the slogan: ‘Play Kabaddi for Peace & Harmony.’

Teachable Moments:

There are a few teachable moments I wish I had enough time to get across to the class. I touched base on the native language of Bangladesh, Bengali, but I wish I could have really taught more of the native culture for the Bengali people. In addition, I would have loved to cook a traditional Bengali meal but unfortunately I could not find the time to do so, nor could I have found the time to fit it in my lesson plan. It would have been something special to bring in a real meal to give the students an opportunity to see deep into the culture of Bengali.
