Scout

Notes:

1.           Scout is not technically a rank; therefore it does not require a Board of Review.

2.           Scout does require a meeting with the Scoutmaster.

3.           Hint: most of the requirements overlap the Arrow of Light requirements from Cub Scouts; complete Scout as soon as possible after joining the troop.

Set up conference with Scoutmaster to review and complete all requirements on page 17. Bring your Boy Scout Handbook. During this meeting, the Scoutmaster will “sign-off” each requirement (initial & date) directly in your Boy Scout Handbook.

·         Note: This meeting might be at the Scoutmaster’s home, at a café, on a campout, etc.; typically no time is available at regular troop meetings for a scout to complete these requirements.

Tenderfoot

Notes:

1.           The “fitness” requirements for Tenderfoot (10a & 10b) are the only requirements that can be signed off by a parent.  All other requirements, and all requirements for higher ranks, can only be signed off by the Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, and designated Boy Scouts.

2.           Hint: if you begin requirements 10a & 10b at least 30 days ahead of Camp Parsons, you will have the opportunity to complete all Tenderfoot requirements at Camp Parsons – except for the Board of Review.

3.           Merit Badge completion can be found on the print out of your Individual History Report (IHR) from the Troopmaster database. These are usually emailed out twice a year in PDF.

It is required that the scout “make a satisfactory effort to develop and demonstrate leadership ability.”  A scout will satisfy that requirement if he has attended one overnight outing or if he has made alternate arrangements with and to the satisfaction of the Scoutmaster.   3.           Merit Badge completion can be found on the print out of your Individual History Report (IHR) from the Troopmaster database.
