search within title or TOC

some sites: printing and downloading are limited

1. ebrary academic complete

search and browse by subject area or publisher

can print and download a chapter at a time

can copy and paste book URL into blackboard course

can create your own bookshelf and create notes, etc. Students will see your notes

can export to bibliographic manager

there is an audio option - English or Spanish , can control speed

2. ACLS humanities

we do not add content to it...just subscribe tomit

search by topic or subject

a lot of music in here

will first see TOC, can save it, first page of content

more limited --- only download and print 3 pages at a time

search--- shows you the collections --- you can narrow down by series

help menu gives a lot of info about linking text, Ada compliance, printing and downloading, etc.

3. SpringerLink ebooks

browse by collection or publication by title

breaks down results into chapters

green squares indicates we have access

can download or print by chapter

searching in springer--- more than one word, it will look for term within 10 words

4. netlibrary

got through library consortium

key word searches, related topics

we cannot check out and download due to limited subscription

we can create acct and save notations but cannot download and print

right click in ebooks to add notes

printing depends on publication

not scholarly so much --- more reference books, not really discipline focused...travel guides, resume books, etc. Included

5. Knovel

mainly Engineering

has some interactive tools

defaults to our subscription ( only stuff we have access to) but you can change

can limit search terms

can print and download

browse-- friendly URLs for citations

inter actives including tables, graphs, spreadsheets, videos

live chat and tutorials to get help

6. books at Ovid

mainly for medical field

better platform, more robust

search title or subject

comes up by chapters in books

download by the chapter

can organize by  'add to my projects'  ( need to creat free personal account)

create folders by projects

7. NuCat

can search for resources from all the above in NU catalog called NuCat

8. Research Guides

under research guides on NU library site--- look in your discipline--- librarians have posted, in addition to the above mentioned resources, free ebook content out on the web
