Cutting a New Concertina Reed

At this stage, the reed has already been fitted to its reed shoe so that its length and width are correct.  It has been removed from its shoe and is is now being filed to profile it for pitch and flexibility.

Here the new reed tongue has been fitted to its reed shoe.  All that is left is to snap off the reed tongue’s tail (that portion of the tongue sticking out the back of the reed shoe) and set the reed shoe into the concertina for fine tuning.
