collaborate and cooperate with their peers within the classroom and beyond

How do elements of culture influence the way people live?

How can I step out of my own shoes and see the world from someone else’s point of view?

Six Facets of Understanding

Goal: Collaboratively create a multimedia presentation which highlights an element of culture as it relates to the Maasai people with the purpose of teaching the information to an audience of sixth graders

Role: Students become researchers and collaborative group members in creating original presentations which highlight their cultural element

Audience: Each other and a sixth grade class from Jakarta International School

Situation: Students choose a cultural element based on their interest and conduct research using online tools to gather information.  Following, they will collaborate in small groups to share information and create a product which will be used as a teaching tool among their peers.

Product: Final products will be shared in class and online with students at Jakarta International School.
