Art.Works Schools: Fun with Felt
Felting is a fun and creative way to engage your pupils in hands on arts and enterprise sessions. During the felting process pupils bind natural wool fibres by hand to bond felt together and create a piece of felt piece of art.
Felt making is the perfect activity to bring enthusiasm and inspiration to your pupils; it encourages creative thinking and construction skills. Felt making is guaranteed to install values of co- operation, participation and self esteem across the classroom.
Working with a specialist felt artist your pupils can create a felt picture measuring approx 20cm x 20cm. Art.Works will then sew together all your pupil’s pictures to create a patch work wall hanging to decorate your classroom.
Alternatively, Art.Works also offers to run a Co-operative Fund Raising lesson with your pupils on the day, pupils will then have the option to make variety of felt products to sell. From bead bracelets to paperweights, key rings to broaches your class will make and create, discovering the benefits of co-operative working. By the end of the day your pupils will be inspired to market and sell their marvellous handmade merchandise.
This session has proved popular in both bonding pupils through shared creative discovery and introducing classrooms to enterprise learning.
