PRESIDENT’S REPORT

TURKEY SHOOT NOVEMBER 17TH

Get your entries in for November. November 03 Mesa Linda - Individual Stroke Play –White tees for the men- Silver Tees for the woman.

November 17 Mesa Linda- MEMBER-MEMBER - Partner Best Ball Net.

Pick your partner or if you will be a single Jim will put you with another single.    All players will have the opportunity to win a Turkey for   Thanksgiving dinner.

SLOW PLAY;   Read the Tournament Directors comments in this issue regarding SLOW PLAY.   It is our individual responsibility to maintain a good pace of play.  Unfortunately, not all members are doing so.    The board has discussed a penalty for players who continue to play slow.   I hope this won’t be necessary but we are prepared to take action if we don’t do better.   If someone mentions to you to pick up the pace you know you are playing slow.  That should be enough to get the message.

Club Renewals:   Send your check now to Rich Clause, our membership director, and renew your membership for 2012.   $65 for member renewal before December 16th.    Members who do not renew by December 16 will be removed from the 2012 roster.   If you have a new address, email etc. please let Rich know when you renew so we can keep our roster up to date.   New membership is $75 for 2010.

As we near Thanksgiving let us reflect how fortunate we are to have friends, family and golf in our lives.

John Smith

President

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR'S REPORT

Congrats go to Tom Anderson for winning Club Champion for second year running…and continued his play with a gross 69 in October.

MEMBER-MEMBER November 17.  Get a partner.  Only partnerships will compete for prize money.  I will form partners with any single entries.  The last single entry can play but won’t compete.  There will be two flights based on the total Handicap of the partners.  The field will be divided and the lower group will play from the Blue Tees and the higher from the Whites.

FEEDBACK:  The new 2012 schedule will be out shortly.  Your feedback is important to us.  Please consider using email to send us a note following each event.

PACE OF PLAY:  I will continue to remind the club of the three worst delay of game habits at each event.  It will be displayed at check-in.  But there is another issue I want to bring to you.  While your foursome may be staying with the group ahead (pace of play),  I have received notes that we have a few players who are just plain SLOW and this effects others in your foursome.  I do not like to read entries that say “please do not put me with ____.”   So what am I asking?   Please think of your own play and habits.  Observe others.  Are you slow?  Way too deliberate in your routines?  So please, all of us should be improving in this area.

SCORE CARDS:  I do see improvement but it would sure be nice if the cards were complete.  This includes Net Score and Adjusted Gross Score if necessary.

CHECKING IN:  Do not assume I know that you are here.  Do not ask a playing partner to check you in.   And remember, we only keep ball sleeves for 3 months

HANDICAP REPORT

Since we have so many new members who have joined our club in the last few months, I thought I would review a few of the club rules concerning posting of scores:

Please post all CMSGA tournament scores as soon as you finish the tournament

Please use ESC (Equitable Stroke Control) to adjust scores before posting

You (not the person who kept score) are responsible for the accuracy and adjustments to your score

Non posting of scores may result in a Penalty round being posted by the Handicap Chairman

CMSGA rounds are to be posted as a Tournament

Equitable Stroke Control puts a limit on the number of strokes you can take on any hole for posting purposes.  The number of strokes you can take is determined by your course handicap.  The following chart shows the maximum number of strokes per hole for posting purposes:

Handicap        Maximum strokes on any hole

0-9                Double Bogey

10-19                7

20-29                 8

30-39                 9

40+                 10

If you have any questions about the proper way to adjust scores before posting, please call me or ask any board member for assistance.
