 The children will create buildings using milk cartons.

  1.   Have the children point to and name places in the picture that makes up a neighborhood and describe who lives in or what takes place in the buildings.
  2. Read aloud “My neighborhood.
  3. Have the children identify some of the ways in which people  go from place within the neighborhood.
  4. Help the children define neighborhood as the homes and streets around the place where you live.
  5. The teacher will define a home and a residential building.
  6. Have the children describe their neighborhood by asking: What kind of buildings or homes are in your neighborhood? Are there a lot of buildings? Stores? Do your friends live in your neighborhood?
  7. Label neighborhood, community, town.
  8. Have the children create their own neighborhood by coloring milk cartons
  9. have the children answer the following questions: Can you name some of the places in your neighborhood? Who uses these buildings? Can you show the difference between a building and a home?
