- Read aloud “My neighborhood.
- Have the children identify some of the ways in which people go from place within the neighborhood.
- Help the children define neighborhood as the homes and streets around the place where you live.
- The teacher will define a home and a residential building.
- Have the children describe their neighborhood by asking: What kind of buildings or homes are in your neighborhood? Are there a lot of buildings? Stores? Do your friends live in your neighborhood?
- Label neighborhood, community, town.
- Have the children create their own neighborhood by coloring milk cartons
