How to do Tcom 2640 class presentation

First, click here to check the grading criteria.

Don't panic. Just approach it like you would a print assignment, and remember that you can get help from me and, also, you can get help from anyone in the class.

Your goal is to present information that we can all trust to answer the questions asked by your topic. So do the research; imagine that your classmates or your client is really counting on you to know what you are talking about. Answer a few questions really well rather than many questions at a surface level: You don't have to completely and exhaustively cover your topic. Just select a few things that deeply interest you and do a very good job on those.

  1. Total presentation time will be between 10 and 25 minutes. But, the actual presentation can be less than 20 minutes and 5 minutes can be assigned for questions and answers.
  2. Remember to cite your sources for each and every idea that was not from you.
  3. Do not read the projected slides.
  4. Do not fill up the screen with small texts. Use the font size bigger than 18.
  5. 20 minutes is not long. You may NOT want to play video unless it is absolutely necessary. However, pictures or graphics will help.
  6. Do not abuse flashy Powerpoint features. They will distract audience from the content of the presentation.
  7. Try to be professional (e.g., clean dress, manners, gestures, etc.).
  8. Be confident. You should practice your presentation multiple times to show your confidence.
