Photo Submission for Participants, Organizers & ICCS Otters

Photos can be submitted for recces, year-round cleanups, workshops, ICCS and any other cleanup-related activities.

  1. ICCS Otters only - Zip photos.
  2. ICCS Otters only - Rename zip file as event-date[photographer].zip
  3. Submit photos by WeTransfer - https://wetransfer.com/ (up to 2GB)[1] - to iccsphotos@coastalcleanupsingapore.org .
  4. Include the following information (in the WeTransfer comments):
  1. ICCS Otters only - Event (Recce, YRCC, Workshop, ICCS etc.)
  2. Site
  3. Organisation(s) name
  4. Photographer’s name
  5. Date

  1. Reply to submitter, thank them for photos

  1. Can leave this to the end if the upload will be fast (e.g. few photos).
  2. CC iccsphotos@coastalcleanupsingapore.org .

  1. Rename download folder / Create folder in Dropbox

  1. Create a folder in shared Dropbox folder[2] [3] (e.g. in ICCS 2014), name the folder using this format:
    ICCSyear Location [Organisation(s)] by Photographer’s Name.
    e.g. ICCS2014 Tanah Merah 6 to 7 [Toddycats & Independents] by Kenneth Pinto
  1. Organisation names can be listed as Various organisations if the list is unwieldy e.g. all the organisations at Tanah Merah.
  2. Photographer’s name can be omitted if the location has only one submission.
  3. This is for easy creation of Flickr photo album title.

  1. Drag and drop photos that need to be renamed into work area.
  2. Preferences > Uncheck Hide extensions by default.
  3. Select Sequence from drop-down list.
  4. Sequence Name: iccs-loca_tion-datemonthyear[photographer'sname].jpg  
    Note: Replace items in bold italics with relevant info. You must put in the extension (.jpg).
    e.g. iccs-tanah_merah_6_to_7-13sep2014[kennethpinto].jpg
  5. Select After digits from drop-down list.
  6. Number of Digits: 02 (only choose 003 if there are more than 99 photos).
  7. Starting at: 1.
  8. Location: Replace Entire Filename.
  9. Click Rename.
  1. Drag and drop photos that need to be renamed into work area.
  2. Check Append original extension.
  3. Select Number sequentially from drop-down list.
  4. Suffix: iccs-loca_tion-datemonthyear[photographer'sname]
    Note: Replace items in bold italics with relevant info.
    e.g. iccs-tanah_merah_6_to_7-13sep2014[kennethpinto]
  5. For Suffix, uncheck Append original name.
  6. Minimum number of Digits: 2 (only choose 3 if there are more than 99 photos).
  7. First number: 1. Step value: 1.
  8. Click Rename.

  1. Upload to Flickr

Flickr Uploader - https://www.flickr.com/photos/upload/ :

  1. Drag and drop photos into Flickr Uploader.
  2. Select All (⌘-A - Mac or Ctrl-A - Win) or click-drag over all photos.
  3. Click Add to albums.
  4. Click Create a new album.
  1. Organisations can be listed as Various Organisations if the list is unwieldy. Make sure to list the organisations in the Album description.
  2. Photographer’s Name is usually added only when there is more than one photographer for a site or organisation.

Photos by Name, Date.

  1. Ensure all photos still selected.
  2. Add to existing tags:

  1. Click Upload.
  2. While waiting for the upload, rotate photos that have not been rotated.

  1. Go to You > Organize - https://www.flickr.com/photos/organize.
  2. Click Albums & Collections tab.
  3. Double-click the recently uploaded album. Drag-and-drop a new cover photo if necessary. Click Save.
  4. Drag-and-drop recently uploaded album to International Coastal Cleanup Singapore collection and ICCSyear collection. Make sure the album is placed in alphabetical order of location.
  5. Go to the Albums - https://www.flickr.com/photos/habitatnews/sets. Right click and copy the link to the recently uploaded album.
  6. Add the link to the ICCS Photo Album Index, along with the required information.

  1. Thank them again for sending the photos. Compliment on outstanding photos or good/interesting cleanup.
  2. Provide the link to the album.
  3. CC iccsphotos@coastalcleanupsingapore.org .

[2] Uploading to Dropbox is an interim measure while ICCS looks for an alternative to the coastalcleanup server.
