MINUTES OF THE MONTHLY MEETING OF THE FYLDE CRICKET LEAGUE HELD AT BLACKPOOL CRICKET CLUB ON 10th APRIL 2012-04-12

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Were agreed and passed.

MATTERS ARISING: TR has updated hard copy of FCL Rules & Handbook following agreed amendments.  Still awaiting copy of “Guide to Club Cricket” from League Cricketers Association. No further contact from Derek Darwen re application for a grant. TR TO CONTACT DEREK.

CORRESPONDENCE:   TR has separated items into sections covering:

• Finals Day Potential Sponsorship,
• St Annes CC player. This concerns Vishnu Naik who is an illegal immigrant and S/A wondered about playing him. TR had quoted the FCL Rules to S/A Secretary and suggested that a solicitor within the club be “gently consulted” as well as having a quiet word with Vishnu.
• Round Robin letter ahead of season to all clubs from TR.
• Registrations from Ingol CC.
• ACU & S refunds.
• FCL Handbook. Corrected proof back with printer for finalising.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:  Covered above.

FIXTURE SECRETARY’S REPORT:  JB reported that Bispham Mercs had now arranged all of their matches for Stanley Park. Following last meeting, it was agreed that we would not push Blackpool Council/Chris Simcock FOR NOW but the situation should be carefully monitored. Rearrangement of St Annes v Wyre fixture still awaited.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Bispham CC have paid their o/s sum of £60 plus their League sub for 2012. Subs & Regns recvd from St Annes CC. Balance=£576 23

UMPIRES’ SECRETARY’S REPORT: RA has had to reschedule Umpires’ meeting. RA suggested an increase in Umpires’ fees for coming season. BJ said that the AGM should be the only vehicle for such a move and TR added that in view of the increases in League subs and player registrations, he did not think a further increase would be appropriate or be welcomed at this point.

PRESS SECRETARY’S REPORT:  JB to arrange for a Press Release via the Gazette and LEP to promote coming season and to appeal for more umpires. Suggested a mention whereby players in the PS could still be involved in the FCL ( we regard PS clubs in Divisions 3 and below as being an equivalent standard to the FCL.)

REGISTRATIONS SECRETARY’S REPORT:  None in his absence.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS: 

• It was queried whether teas should be provided in the pre-Finals rounds of the Stuart T20. Not thought necessary in view of the short format but drinks should be available for the break. All captains should liaise.
• T20 Potential Sponsorship: JB has now received replies from all clubs and they are broadly in agreement with contributing around 2/3 cost for Finals Day and the League 1/3. Ingol CC felt their max contribution could be unlikely to exceed £6.TR reminded the meeting that the £260 given the League by Baxi CC should be used towards this type of thing rather than just be absorbed into League funds and he felt Baxi would approve of this. TR should therefore “ring-fence” up to £180. He added that we must now all be a lot more proactive in raising funds whenever possible- especially raffles at finals etc.
