CSU East Bay NetID FAQ
1. What is a NetID and where is it used?
The NetID is a login name that contains no personal information about the user. It will look something like ab1234 (two alpha characters followed by four numbers). It is used for logging into a variety of systems on campus such as Google, Blackboard, MyCSUEB, etc. It does not replace or change a person's e-mail address.
2. What is an activation code and when is it used?
The activation code is a one-time password for new NetIDs. It is used to activate new NetIDs and is only used once.
3. How do I get a NetID?
The NetID can be activated at http://www.csueastbay.edu/netid by following the instructions at that link.
4. When can I begin using my NetID?
For some systems, you can use your NetID immediately after activating it, but other systems may require that you wait for overnight processes to provide access. If you just received your NetID and cannot log into a particular system, please wait and try again in 24 hours before reporting a problem. If you continue to have problems, please open a ticket with the Service Desk at http://www.csueastbay.edu/servicedesk.
5. Can I change my NetID?
No, NetIDs are automatically generated and assigned and cannot be changed.
6. Will I have to change my NetID password?

Your Bay Card displays your NetID, but you can also follow the links to "Recover your lost NetID" at the NetID Web site (http://www.csueastbay.edu/netid).
To reset a password, use the password reset tools at the NetID Web site (http://www.csueastbay.edu/netid). Although not applicable in all scenarios, useful information for employee password changes can be found at http://www.csueastbay.edu/its/training/netid/Change_NetID_Password.pdf.

8. What if I have two NetIDs?
You should only be issued one NetID even if you are a student, staff or faculty member at the same time. Please report the problem to the Service Desk at http://www.csueastbay.edu/servicedesk.
