Verbal Transcript of Lab B

To the Whole Class:

Good morning class, my name is Mr. Snyder and I will be your substitute teacher because Mr. Yang is sick today and we are going to begin our jump rope unit. The thing you remember something that back in high school at our high school dances just trying to impress the ladies just by doing a simple dance going back and forth right. And you know trying to impress a significant other and, it, today to begin we are going to start our side swing and pretty much (pause) we are just going to want to take the jump rope and start with it behind our feet. And when you come across you are just going to go in a circular motion, like this, and make sure it skips off the ground. So, the cues you want to look for are right, left, right, left and all you want to be doing to your wrists while you are doing that is making circular motions, alright. So, um what are some of the cues? Right, simple enough right. So, if everyone could please grab a jump rope and make sure you guys are far away from each other.

To the Whole Class:

Okay, all we are going to do is start with your right side and all we are going to do is go 30 times to the right side and just do this 30 times and then switch over to the left side and do 30 times to the left side.

Alex :

Try moving your hands more circular.

To the Whole Class:

Good job! (Can't hear myself over the skipping of the jump ropes)

To the Whole Class:

Okay, now we are going to progress and this time we are going to take the jump rope and going to go right side, left side. Right, left.

To the Whole Class:

Make sure your hands go across your body.

Sam:

(Could not hear, but I corrected him because he was bringing his hands too high, rather than straight across the body at waist level.)

To the Whole Class:

Alright stop please! Now, we are going to go to another variation. And this time we are going to swing right, left, right, left, and then jump. And for whoever really wants to, uh, who can do it better and you guys can do it more often, go right and just keep going, alright. Go ahead!

To the Whole Class:

Good job!

To the Whole Class:

Keep your hands (could not hear the rest)

To the Whole Class:

Alright bring it in! Alright, so uh what are some of the cues you guys learned with the side swing and the double side swing with the jump? Yes! Um, and after that?

Cassie:

Right, you want to keep it waste level.

George:

Yes!

To the Whole Class:

Any other questions? Bring it in, we are going to do jump rope on three; 1,2,3 jump rope!
