“Confound those ponies!” she growled to herself as she raced across the fields away from Ponyville. “Especially that...Twilight Sparkle!”
She didn’t stop running for hours, and when she finally began to tire and slow, she found herself in the Everfree Forest. Trixie felt a shudder run down her flank in spite of herself.
“Hmph,” she muttered. “Trixie isn’t afraid of the dark.” She focused on her magic, intending to illuminate her horn to light her way, but she was simply too tired.
“Fine. The Great and Powerful Trixie will not be stopped. Fillydelphia is just on the other side of the forest, and Trixie shall arrive there by morning.” She walked on. Soon, however, she looked down to realize she had lost the trail. She was lost in the forest.
Trixie looked around nervously. “Umm...” she looked skyward- was that something moving? Trixie whirled around at the rustling sound behind her. She had heard tales of manticores and cockatrices in these woods. She took off at a gallop, dropping her hat in her panic.
It seemed like hours later that she collapsed, exhausted, on the ground. Thank Luna, I think I lost it, she thought. But no sooner had the thought crossed her mind, when she heard something walking up behind her. She couldn’t run anymore, she was too tired to even stand. She merely covered her face with her hooves and whimpered, “Go away!”
She could feel it standing behind her, silently watching. Summoning all of her courage, she peeked at the apparition.
It was tall, with a large pointed head and spread wings. “What do you want?” she didn’t scream, not quite, but she could feel the panic rising.
It took a moment for her to realize what she was seeing. It was a light grey Pegasus pony with Trixie’s pointed hat pushed down low on her head.
“Muffins!” the newcomer cried happily.
