To my BMS Bear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!
I am Krystal Gabriel, and I am so excited to have been chosen to lead Bastrop Middle School. We have a campus where teachers are dedicated to your children and who are willing to work together to achieve the best results.
My goal is to lead us in working hard every day, supporting students, and setting high expectations for them to be successful both inside and outside the classroom. It will take a team effort of teachers, students, our parents, and the support of our community to make it happen. We are all responsible for the success of BMS!
Students – work hard every day! Challenge yourself to be great and make positive decisions for yourself and your family. Take advantage of the support our campus offers and get involved with activities. Devote yourself to becoming a proud Bastrop Bear!
Parents – we want to hear from you. Please communicate with your child’s teachers and contact the office if you ever have any questions, concerns or needs. I invite you to be part of the life of our campus and in your child’s educational experience--volunteer, join PTA, and attend our family and student events. You can find all this information on our website and Facebook page throughout the year.
I am looking forward to an amazing year at BMS and getting to know as many of you as I can. Thank you in advance for your support and your patience. We’re going to have a great year!

BMS Assistant Principal
I feel so blessed to be able to serve at Bastrop Middle School as an Assistant Principal. This campus is strengthened by its dedicated staff, students, and parents, and I am honored to be a part of our continued growth and success.
In my years in education, I have served as a campus-based social worker, reading teacher, English teacher, department chair, instructional specialist and assistant principal. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas (HOOK’EM!) and my Master’s degree from Lamar University. When I’m not on campus, you can find me enjoying time with my husband and son, hanging out with friends, hiking and camping, reading, or working any kind of puzzle.
I look forward to working with you this year and encourage you to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (512) 772-7400 if you have any concerns or questions.

I am honored and excited to serve as the new Assistant Principal at Bastrop Middle School and look forward to working with our administrative team, teachers, as well as the rest of the BMS staff, in our efforts to advance the academic achievement of all students on our campus.
My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped over the past eight years as a English teacher and instructional coach. I graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Communications. In addition, I hold a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas, Tyler. The Bastrop community is a special place of which I am very proud to be a part of. My goal this year is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment that is safe and respectable, in order for your child to receive the best possible academic instruction. I am confident that BMS will continue to be a place where our students can learn and grow both academically and socially.
Please stop in and say hello, as my door is always open. If there is anything I can assist you with, please let me know.

Welcome to Bastrop Middle School! The staff at BMS believes that this is our community school. Whether you are a community member, a parent, a student or a teacher we want you to know that you are always welcome at BMS. Middle school is an important time in every child’s life and we want to work with you to help your student explore their passion and interests. We are committed to learning who your child is and educating the entire child. Our goal at BMS is high achievement for all students and we believe that high expectations are the key to achieving this goal.
The staff at BMS is dedicated to helping your young adults develop into articulate, responsible citizens; however, we cannot do it alone. The staff at BMS depends on the support of parents and the community. We invite your presence at every celebration and event. We want you to feel welcome here and to help us celebrate our successes to your neighbors. We also need your help in ensuring that every student is in attendance, on time, and ready to learn to the maximum extent possible. If your student is unable to be in attendance please help us by ensuring that your student completes missing assignments upon returning to school.
As the principal of BMS, I look forward to getting to know you and to learning how best we can help your children develop into life-long learners. My family and I could not be more excited to be given the opportunity to join the Bastrop community. I have known since my first day of teaching 15 years ago that education was my passion in life and I have spent the last seven of those years as a campus administrator. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Religion and Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Austin College in 2000 and 2002, respectively. I completed a Doctorate of Education from the University of North Texas in 2013. I have been married to my wife, Kathleen, for 10 years and have two children, Kara and Hunter. When I am not working, I enjoy reading, camping, fishing, kayaking, running or doing any outdoor activities with my family.
Welcome to BMS! The Best Middle School in Texas!
