Philosophy of Education

Personally, teaching provides me with an opportunity for continual learning and growth. As an educator I hope to instill my students with a love of learning as I share my own passion for learning right along with them. The curriculum should be based around the student’s interests and foster to their motivation and also stimulate a desire to learn. I have also been attracted to the field of teaching. I believe that children are like a blank slate waiting to be filled with information. When given the proper opportunities, students can generate ideas and set goals for themselves that make them the best they can be.

In my teaching I hope to emphasize a compassionate, strong, dedicated and comforting environment for my students. I believe it is important for students to receive a solid education and it is equally important for the students to work with a teacher who is aware of and sensitive to their individual needs. As an educator in the elementary schools, emphasis should be placed on the basic qualities such as compassion, trustworthiness, and honesty. I am also a firm believer in “no bullying.” Children need to be taught about the harmful things that can come from bullying their classmates. Young children need to be assisted while they are on the journey of discovering who they are, so they can express their own opinions and ideas.
