This year is unusual due to Adhik Mas and Paryushan days are different for different sects. Additionally our sang has traditionally celebrated Paryushan from Sat to Sat. In order to minimize confusion, I have posted all the Paryushan dates on our calendar. Please visit www.jscnc.org and click on Events.

Local events in honor of tragedy in Wisconsin
As the horrific news spread about the shooting at a Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) in Wisconsin, the entire nation rallied in support of the victims. A number of local organizations planned events remembering the victims and condemning the act. Our President, Mr. Kamlesh Shah also expressed his deep sorrow in a letter to Dr. Didar Hothi, BOD President of Sikh Gurdwara of NC. A transcript of the letter is below:

Hello Dr. Hothi,
On behalf of the Jain Study Center of NC, I would like to express deep sadness and shock on the news of the killings in Oak Creek, Wisconsin on Sunday the 5th of August.
Jain principles do not condone any violence against any living being, and such an action from an individual or a group of people is highly condemned by us as a collective group of Jains residing in NC and elsewhere.
We deeply regret the news and would like to express our sympathy to greater Sikh Community residing in North Carolina and elsewhere.
We also like to offer any help and support we can provide to the community in Wisconsin in this great time of sorrow. We are circulating the information on the vigil being held on 8/8 to our community at large and I will be in contact with you in that regard.
Also, please find attached herewith a message issued by JAINA - Federation of Jain Association in North America.
The greater Sikh community of Wisconsin and North America is in our thoughts and prayers.
PS: Please feel free to circulate the same to your membership at large.
President, Jain Study Center of NC

JSCNC Pathshala serves our young kids to instill spiritual development, self-awareness and promote Jain identity in individuals, based on the principles of Jainism. The teachers pay special attention to the needs of young and older groups and have structured curriculum as such.
The Paathshala classes take place every first Sunday of the month from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Hindu Temple Cultural Hall AND on 3rd Sundays during the monthly meeting. If you plan to attend and/or need more information, please call Mrs. Rita Lodaya or Mrs. Sejal Shah. Paathshala e-mail address is JSCNCpathshala@yahoo.com.
I wanted to remind everyone that children's safety is our utmost concern. Our pathshala attendance continues to grow. All pathshala classes are held on safe premises of Hindu Center, however there is considerable traffic in the parking lot. To help pathshala teachers maintain order and keep everyone safe, we are asking all the parents to sign in and sign out their kids - irrespective of the age of their child - during the 1st Sunday pathshala. We request very basic information (Who, When and emergeny contact). We will use this process for all future youth activities. The goal of this process is to balance convenience and children’s safety.
Please continue to follow this process. It is important to cooperate with the teachers for the safety of your children.
