Legion, Shedite Demon Prince of Corruption

The world and everything in it is corrupt, rotten to its core.

Enough’s been said about Legion already that no intro text I could make up would really add much.

DISSONANCE

It is dissonant for a demon of Corruption to directly or indirectly cause corruption to be challenged, in any form. It’s generally held to be in poor form among the Distorters to even expose corruption, given the strange human habit of getting rid of it if it becomes too obvious, but this is not dissonant in and of itself.

ARBITRARY SPECIAL RULE

Being more corrupt than most, all demons of Corruption must, at character creation, take levels of Ethereal or Celestial Discord equal to their Ethereal or Celestial Forces, respectively. They do get character points for this, and Calabim in particular can satisfy this requirement with the Discord they already have to take for being a Calabite.

BAND ATTUNEMENTS

Balseraphs

The Liars of Corruption can hide their violations of the Symphony, passing them off as natural changes. All disturbance caused by a Balseraph of Corruption is reduced by their Ethereal Forces, to a minimum of 0 (yes, this means they don’t cause disturbance at all if they don’t cause enough disturbance at once). The Balseraph can suppress this attunement at will if he really wants, but in combat can only flip it on or off once per round (albeit in addition to all normal actions).

Djinn (restricted)

The inner corruption of a Djinn of Corruption is reflected in those they attune to. At the time of resonating, the Djinn may cause a number of levels of Discord in the target equal to or less than the check digit of the resonance roll; however, only Discord that is present in the Djinn himself can be inflicted, and only up to the level present in the Djinn himself. The inflicted levels can be split between different Discords, however - for example, a CD 6 would let you inflict Berserk/6, or Berserk/3 and Murderous/3, or 6 different Discords at level 1.
Such inflicted Discord will last as long as the attunement that caused it (or potentially less time, in a human who immediately starts taking therapy/plastic surgery to get rid of them)

Calabim (restricted)

Calabim of Corruption cause deep structural damage with their resonance, that cannot easily be repaired. The Songs of Healing have no effect whatsoever on damage done by such a Calabite’s resonance.

Habbalah (restricted)

Habbalah of Corruption have the potential to corrupt their victims permanently. If such a Habbalite rolls a check digit of 6 on a successful resonance roll to inflict emotions on someone, they may strike the target with 1 level of a Discord or Disadvantage matching the emotion they were trying to generate (e.g. Angry/1 for anger, Cowardly/1 or Phobia/1 for fear). Against humans, this is as permanent as any human disadvantage, i.e. not necessarily very. Against ethereals and celestials, the imposed Discord will last for a year and a day, and (to the relief of Uriel’s servitors); while attunements like that of Dominic’s Ofanim cannot tell the difference, it is easily discernible from real Discord to a Superior, and much less trouble to remove (before it disappears anyway, that is).

Lilim (restricted)
Every time a victim fails to resist the geas of a Lilim of Corruption, they suffer a cumulative -1 penalty to future attempts to resist that Lilim’s geases - for example, after being geased 3 times the victim would have a -3 to future resistance rolls against that Lilim. This will not take the victim’s Will below 2, but is otherwise unlimited. However, if the victim successfully resists the Lilim’s geas even once, all penalties he has accrued against that Lilim are instantly negated.

Shedim (restricted)

Shedim of Corruption may possess and corrupt targets as they please, regardless of target Forces or even target humanity. Yes, this means angels are fair game. However, actions (or inactions, in the case of Ofanim) that the Shedite drives its host to do cannot generate dissonance or trigger Dreads... and this discrepancy gives the host an additional Perception roll, on the spot, to notice that they’ve been possessed. (Actions that were entirely the host’s idea, and just happen to have been taken while the Shedite was tagging along, will still be dissonant/dread-triggering.)

Impudites (restricted)

A human currently charmed by an Impudite of Corruption must make a Will roll, at a bonus equal to their Celestial Forces, to resist “suggestions” from the Impudite that would violate the human’s sense of honour. This specifically doesn’t work on angels, demons, or ethereals, but there’s no direct way to tell the difference between an invalid target and a valid target who can resist all your suggestions. (This is still more compulsion than their just being able to say no, by the way. If the number’s too high - Cel Charm the mook first...)

SERVITOR ATTUNEMENTS

We Are Many (restricted)

Only Shedim may purchase this attunement. It allows them to possess multiple hosts, up to their total Forces, like a Kyriotate. If they are doing this, they must corrupt every host they possess to avoid dissonance, but will “only” get one note at the end of the day if they fail to do so; however, they will gain dissonance every time a host dies under their control.

Veneer of Purity

The demon can use the Malakite resonance for honour. This allows them to determine what a person must do to become corrupted under their own standards.

Archimedes' Lever

The demon can spend 1 Essence, look into a person’s eyes, and detect either the smallest bribe or the smallest duress which, on its own, would make that person seriously consider breaching any of their own moral standards. The moral standard in question must be chosen when the attunement is activated, however a result of "Not Applicable" tells a story all its own. (A Malakite, for example, is unlikely to have a moral standard of "allowing bad people to live rather than stir the pot".) Rumours used to abound that someone had used this attunement on Uriel and got an actual result...

RITES
* Successfully bribe a police officer to ignore you (to Asmodeus’ annoyance and/or amusement, this included - and indeed was made with an eye towards - Servitors of the Game...)
* Spend three hours corrupting innocents, children, or both (not necessarily all in a row)
* Cover up an act of corruption

DISTINCTIONS

Knight of Duplicity
The demon gains new tools to corrupt the hearts of their victims. On being promoted to Knight, they get one of the Balseraph, Habbalite, or Impudite resonances in addition to their actual resonance, but in return suffer the appropriate dissonance condition. This does extend to unlocking (Restricted) attunements for their additional resonance, as well as allowing other Princes to grant them the Band Attunements of their second Band. No demon is known to have multiple copies of this Distinction.

Captain of the Whited Sepulchre

The demon can look into a person’s eyes for a round and, with a Perception roll, detect any corruption in their deeds which they have tried to hide. This is of no use in picking up acts of corruption done openly and plainly, but really, how often do you see those in areas that have any contest for diabolical reign...

Baron of Blackened Hearts

Unlike many Princes, Legion grants no special powers to his Barons; instead, their promotion is typically celebrated by being granted resources which fill gaps in their arsenal.

RELATIONS (before it all went wrong...)

Allied: None (Saminga considered himself Allied to Legion)

Associated: Saminga, Asmodeus, Meserach, Kronos (Due to the widespread appeal of Corruption to Team Evil, all Princes, except...)

Neutral: All Princes, except... (Andrealphus was neutral to Legion)
Hostile: Baal (Baal and Lilith were Hostile to Legion from the beginning.)

Enemy: None (Until he pissed it all away, no Prince was Legion’s enemy)

CHANCE OF INVOCATION: 6 (Legion got freaking everywhere, the other Princes probably should have taken that as a hint)
+1 A high-ranking official accepting a bribe

+2 50 humans complicit in an act of corruption

+3 An official group rendered incapable of their stated purpose by corruption

+4 50 humans killed to successfully cover up an act of corruption
