2010 Meetings of the Benton County Republican Women

January 25, 2010

The BCRW met at the The Regent Retirement Residence (downstairs) at 440 NW Elks Dr. in Corvallis, Oregon (MAP). Our guest speakers were Fred Thompson and Scott Bruun, Republican candidates for Oregon's 5th Congressional District in the May primary election. Their backgrounds were quite different but they agreed with each other on all but one issue. They took questions from the fifty or so members and guests. Both are impressive candidates and it could be a close primary race.

February 12, 2010

The BCRW worked on and supported the Linn and Benton County Republican Lincoln Day Celebration, which was held on Feburary 12th. This event took the place of their regularly scheduled 4th Monday General Meeting.

March 22, 2010

The BCRW met at Meadow Park Estates in Corvallis. The theme was "Hats off to Republican Women." Our guest speakers were candidates Rose Cook and Rex Watkins. They presented their reasons for seeking office and how they would make a difference. It was a pleasure to hear from these candidates.

April 26, 2010

The BCRW met for a brown bag "teapot theme" luncheon meeting in the Common Room at Meadow Park Estates in Corvallis with guest speakers Allen Alley, candidate for governor, and Jerry Jackson, candidate for Benton County Commissioner. Rose Cook, candidate for State Representative, Dist. 16 also attended.

May 24, 2010

The BCRW met for a potluck luncheon at the Meadow Park Estates Club House initiating a new program, "Networking Republican Women in Business," featuring Heidi Neuffer, Certified Health Coach; Tricia Graham, Travel Consultant with World Ventures; Becky Nielsen, owner of Curves; Barbara Hartz, owner of Landmark Realty and; Bev McNeil, Independent Distributor of NU SKIN products. For the business meeting, Jean Nelson, Legislative Affairs Chair for the Benton County Republicans gave a recap on the May 18th Primary Election and advised as to where we Republican Women need to focus our actions next.

June 17th: District IV Meeting

In place of the 4th Monday meeting for June, BCRW attended the OFRW District IV Luncheon Meeting at the Yaquina Bay Restaurant in Albany, Oregon. Eleanor Boese, District IV Director led the meeting of Republican Women clubs from Benton, Linn, Capitol City (Marion) and Polk and Lane Counties. The theme was "Celebrating our 75th Anniversary, Women Empowering Women." The guest speaker was Paulette Pyle, Grass Roots Director for Oregonians for Food and Shelter. There were two training sessions: Fund Raising and The Best Way I Can Help the Candidate.

July 26th - BCRW Summer Potluck Picnic and Membership Drive. April Aguirre and Caroline Vogt, Republican Women in Business, spoke during lunch. Our Guest speakers were Colleen Ghasedi, Cindy Crook and Ineke Loux representing Friends of the Family Ministry, a counseling center for preparing, strengthening and restoring marriage and family relationships.

August 2010 - No BCRW General Meeting was held as the Club worked on the Benton County Fair and The Republican Barbecue. These events took the place of the August meeting.

September 27, 2010 - The BCRW met at King Tin Restaurant in Corvallis from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The public was invited to come meet the exciting candidates shown below.

October 18, 2010 (Meeting moved to 3rd Mon.)

The Benton County Republican Women will meet at King Tin Restaruant, 1857 NW Ninth Street in Corvallis (map), for a no-host luncheon & meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Join us for a presentation on the 2010 Ballot Measures. Speaker TBA.

November 2010 - There will be NO General Meeting. In stead, BCRW Members have been invited to the Benton County Republican "We the People" Appreciation Dinner and Reorganization Meeting on November 18th. The featured guest speaker is State Senator Jeff Kruse. See MAP and Menu.

December 13, 2010 - Benton County Republican Women (BCRW) will hold their annual Potluck Christmas party in the Fireside Room at Kings Circle Assembly of God Church starting at 11:30 a.m.. Guest speakers will be Joyce Waggoner, OFRW President; Eleanor Boese, Dist. IV Director; and Republican Women In Business (RWIB).  Please bring a luncheon dish to share.
