**In order to race, you must show proof of your license or membership at each race course – you cannot race without this:

Race rules are strictly enforced.  Rules are in place for the safety of all riders and/or the consideration of the community.  If you have questions or concerns about race rules, please contact the race organizer or the commissaire.

*Do not cross the road’s centre line at any time, for any reason, during a race.*

Arrive 30 minutes before race time for sign up.  If you have not previously raced the course, arrive at least 30 minutes prior to sign all paperwork and do a pre-race ride.  If you have not raced before, let the race organizer know.

Riders who are 18 years old or under (Junior and Cadet riders) must have a parent or legal guardian sign a race waiver form for each race course.  Arrange having the waiver signed before the race or bring your parent/guardian with you to your first race at each course.

Spectators are welcome to all races – bring your family and friends to cheer you on.

Cost:  Hill Climbs are $5 each; All other races are $10 each.  Please contact other clubs for other race fees.

League Standings can be found at http://duanebc.com/raceresults.html

Race Locations or Club Links:

**Ride single file to and from the race course as obstructing traffic can result in complaints. Cancellation of a race course can occur due to complaints from residents and the public to the Police or Municipality about riders obstructing traffic to and from the race.**

C Races

Attention C riders

This year brings a new emphasis in the VCL on accommodating riders new to massed start racing.  The schedule has 10 dedicated ‘C’ races.

Tripleshot Cycling is hosting a Monday night series in late April-May only for ‘c’ riders, and another 4 in September.  If they are well attended, we’ll do more, subject to course availability.  As well, the two races planned for Windsor Park have dedicated C races.

Most other VCL races will offer a C race if enough riders come out, and most of the clubs will be doing extra to encourage their C riders to come.

Who is a C?

Anyone new to group racing, or not training enough to do ‘B’ races.  New riders should have done enough riding before, to know your bike, gears and braking.  Some group riding experience is recommended too.  Probably the minimum age is 12, but there are some strong enough kids younger than that. Most people will be 14-60+.

More experienced riders are welcome to ride to help the new riders get the hang of it.  You’ll fill gaps, offer the odd bit of advice, and organize groups if it separates.  The main idea is to be welcoming, encouraging, teach a bit, and ride with the power of the riders around you, but not to win.

What you get: More Tries, No Death Marches

The main idea is to turn folks on to group racing.  It’s exciting and you have to use your head and skills to have fun. No one will be left behind to ride on their own for long.

In Tripleshot races, there will be a supervised warm-up pace line session for 15 minutes at 6:00.  Races start at 6:30.

Then there will be a variety of shorter races so you can give it a go, rest up, and try again.  For example, there might be a women’s 5 lap (a lap is about 600 m) race, then a men’s, then another women’s, then another men’s. We might do ‘handicaps’ where stronger riders chase weaker riders who get a head start, first across the line wins.  And there are lots of other options.

Each race will have more advanced riders in the group, helping to set an example, and advise new riders, but not trying to win.  Most races will start with a neutral lap behind experienced riders to let the nerves settle, and experienced riders will be at the back to help newcomers figure out drafting, and organize chase groups if it splits up.  We’re also open to requests for events.  How about a team pursuit with teams of ten?  Boys vs. Girls? You get the picture.
