PRELIMINARY
The BTC is a sanctioned club with Triathlon Nova Scotia. Â The BTC provides TNS with a workout plan for the year and the practices have to meet a standard (ie: approved venue, pre-practice meetings, Emergency Action Plan, etc.) Â BTC members are insured as part of the sanctioning.
non-BTC practices are listed for information only because they may be of interest to our members.
Three online surveys were conducted by the BTC. (1 - Fancy Lake Participants, 2- Riverport Duathlon Participants and 3- All BTC Members) Â The average response rate was 45-60% with many comments and suggestions. Â Survey results are included where appropriate.

- 33 participants for last final Fancy Lake practice
- Riverport Duathlon sold out 6 weeks before the race

- held at various locations around Lunenburg
- early season fitness benchmark - approx. one hour swim, one hour run, 2 hour bike
- coordinated by Tom Rogers, coached by Colin Edwards
- Fancy Lake Practice - Wed May 4 - Wed Aug 17
- Welcome Meeting at HB Studios Sports Centre - Wed April 27th
- averaged 20 people per practice
- NEW ‘My First Triathlon was HUGELY successful
- Week 6 - Duathlon / Week 10 - Aquathlon / Week 16 - Triathlon
- Week 6, 10 and 16 were the best attended nights, peaking with 33 on Week 16
- members took turns being the weekly marshal
- no issues

- Riverport Duathlon - Sun Oct 2
- moved to Riverport Community Centre
- capped race at 105 -- SOLD OUT 6 weeks before the race
- race day weather was very raining, but race went without a hitch
- feedback was *very* positive, particularly volunteers
- most people support the new venue

- Freda Cormier suggested we consider using the Brigewater Outdoor pool/DesBrisay Museum area for a triathlon and the suggestion was supported by several members

- Winter/Spring -- 1 Open Swim and 2 swims coached by Colin Edwards
- Fall - 1 Open Swim plus 1 Coached Swim and Learn to Swim/Stroke Improvement coached by Caitlin Cormier
- emOcean had major water quality issues in the spring but seem to have it under control
- Fieldhouse Spin, bike fit, strength and stretch
- Tuesday nights in January - March from 6:30-8pm upstairs at the Fieldhouse
- Meant to help people get ready to ride outside
- open to all, free
- participants bring their bikes + trainer
- approx one hour on the bike led by Tom Rogers followed by a 30 minute core and strength session led by Tammy Slauenwhite
- Al Heubach from the Lunenburg Bike Barn and physiotherapist Matt Keith helped one evening for a bike fit
- third year, busiest yet (averaged 10-12 people per night)
- also had an optional bike checkup
- coached by Colin Edwards

- first session was in Bridgewater - March to June - 24 people signed up
- second session was in Lunenburg - June to August - 28 people signed up
- third session was between Bridgewater and Lunenburg - September - 15 people
- coordinated by Al Heubach at the Lunenburg Bike Barn

- started at 10k site on 2nd Peninsula
- moved to a 20k site starting/finishing at the Riverport Elementary School
- free, open to all
- hosted by Bridgewater Parks and Rec assisted by the BTC
- held on July 1st from the Outdoor Pool at the DesBrisay Museum

- over 100 kids participated

- Tom Rogers thanked the current executive for their support and freedom to organize activities and events for the last year. Â Because of personal commitments in 2012, he will be much less involved than previous years.
ACTION : Tom to provide current executive with a list of things he has dealt with over the last year.

- Like 2011, TNS is offerringa $5 discount on memberships paid before April 30, 2012
- BTC email list -- open up for 2 way communication? Â -->Consensus was to keep the list as a send only with member discussions on FaceBook
- Suggestions from Member Survey
- newsletter? -->Consensus was that the email update did this
- mentoring program -->there was a lengthy discussion with most people stating it was important to let new members know that help was available if they needed it
- xterra race (ie: lake swim, mountain bike, trail run) --> no conclusion
- more cooperation between Striders and YMCA --> Many BTC members are involved in other groups -- like the Striders and YMCA -- Â and many other groups assist the BTC (ie: many Striders help with the Riverport Duathlon)..Members felt it was important to promote cooperation between the different groups. Â
