Wifi Mapping Activity

You will be assigned groups of 2 or 3.

1. Take your iPad.  Notice the wifi reception (top left of screen).

2. In your group walk down the hall until you lose reception. (be quiet!).  Test it using Safari.  It will say you have lost connection.

3. Estimate the distance.

4. Walk down the other hallway (towards the gym).  Same thing.

5. Go towards the nurses office.  Same thing.

6. Draw a diagram of the coverage area.  Use the iPad.

7.  Estimate the total square feet area covered by the wifi hub.  This will take some thinking!  Use the calculator on the iPad.

8. Submit answer to the Board.  Be able to defend your answer.

9.  Extra credit: figure it out in 3 dimensions.  What is the cubic volume of the wifi hub reception?
