ORANGE CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

5 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 5 pieces and softened
1 ¼ cups (5 ounces) confectioner’s sugar
8 ounces cream cheese, cut into 4 pieces, softened
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ½ teaspoons finely grated zest from 1 orange
In a standing mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter, and sugar at medium-high speed until light and fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the cream cheese one piece at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add the vanilla and orange zest and beat until no lumps remain, about 30 seconds.
